FPS are driven by PvP.
MMOs are driven by raid/endgame content and gear
RPGs are driven by story
Destiny is a jack of all trades and master of none.

Hmmm excellent response. Now with that said do you believe that the uproar of destiny players is due to the lack of each element? The players seem to want more. Trading, matchmaking, exploration, customization, missions.

This. This is the one truth

Agreed. Destiny built up extremely high expectations for fans of those three different genres. As an rpg fan (fo3/fnv/mw/obl/skyrim) I wouldn't say it's been a total fail, just very underwhelming, as I was hoping for an engaging complex story. I have accepted that what I hoped for is not the reality, and just have fun playing it for what it is. On a positive note, I had ZERO friends on my list before this game, and now I have a dozen go-to people always willing/inviting to jump in a raid or strike or even just bounties...it's fun, for what it is. If fallout 4 ever goes public, which is seeming to get further away in reality, I'll be finally putting destiny away.
