I managed to configure my Gateway (Netgear-CG300Dv2) after some research, patience and desperation. I knew I did not solve the issue which is why I am not surprised that-ever since the new patch, expansion The Dark Below- I have been experiencing a significant decline in my connection. In the past, I would fail to maintain an in-game connection while playing the Crucible playlists. Error codes etc, as we know. In my experiences I have an excellent connection or a bad connection which would ALWAYS kick me with the subsequent error code of the moment!
I got very pissed when I started getting very into the PvP game play and as I mentioned, I fiddled with settings and managed to play with a decent connection and have yet to see any error codes. After fiddling with my Modem/Router combo aka "Gateway" I was able to play with a connection that was tolerable and, at times, desirable. Note that I rarely experience a desired connection. This is because the "version" (firmware, etc) of the Gateway I have is a stripped down version that-I think is due to DD-WRT?
I hope everything you have read up to this point has informed you well enough to help me tackle the next obstacle.
I have managed to no longer to get repeatedly booted and disconnected but now I need to help with creating a more efficient connection with the servers!
Constraints: I need to keep this Gateway.
Hardware: I have D-link DIR-615 (DD-WRT compatibility)
also
I have an Apple Second generation Airport Extreme
Using speedtest.net- on average I am getting 60 down and 14-16 up. I should be able to run Destiny with a "Green" connection. I should never be running behind the enemies. Ever since the expansion released my connection has been in the red...every BLEEPING day.
This is a much more tolerable situation than before when I would get booted completely but now that the weekend is here I am going to create a new setup and fix this once and for all. Too often am I sniping someone directly in the head and not getting a kill...even sometimes not even registering a hit!
Its bad, please help me fix this.
This is what SHOULD happen but I must be missing a necessary step.
Gateway: Turn off DHCP, Turn off WIFI--->Connect one of my two routers to the Gateway---->Hard wire my xbox one to this.
That is what I want to do. Is this possible? Does this make sense? Should I gather a list of all my devices and set up static IP addresses for every device? Because I will do that....Do I need to reset my D-link DIR-615, then update it with the new firmware BEFORE introducing it to the Gateway? How can I set up a static IP for the DIR-615 when my Ethernet port is already occupied with the Gateway? So many questions and I think you have enough here to direct me in the right direction
Thank you very much for any consideration and time spent helping me play in the Green Zone, once again.
