Well I've done the raid 1 and a half times with my hunter and have gotten 8 radiant shards and 3 pieces of gear, with two other characters I can simply destroy the armour drops for more shards, this means you can grab about 11-16 shards per character per two weeks. So with a fully upgraded exotic you're pretty much set.
