Is patience and time worth it?

I like the p&t, but it is a fairly common exotic to get. I have gotten by drop at least 5 times. not sure I would buy it, unless you just need a good sniper. Just for comparison, my Icebreaker did around 17k damage to Atheon's sweet spot. The P&t did around 16k maybe a little higher, so it has good damage.
