I agree and disagree with you. The grimore is where the story is, but imagine how large the game would be if each had its own cutscene. I could see getting like the last word for the first time and having the screen go right to a cutscene where the grimore card is played out. That would be really cool.

You're right on that, there is a lot of information there. I like how Mass Effect did the codex. The pertinent information was read to you, while the additional info was not. This saved them some disc space because the codex was MASSIVE. I'd like Destiny to take it a step further (being next gen means growing/improving... I think). Some of the scenes like the one in my post could be full CGI visuals with recognizable voice actors, while cards that are more about baseline information could just involve still pictures with a narrator reading them. Some sort of slideshow where the illustrations are like those of a graphic novel behind the words of the card.

Edited by purposefulsauce: 12/19/2014 1:35:45 PMIt doesn't have to be a cutscene... it could be audio files to save space... did you ever play the first bioshock? Those audio files were creepy as hell, and added a lot to the story.... something as simple as that would have been a huge improvement for bungie (instead of the lame grimoire cards)

Yeah I liked that aspect of BioShock. Personal journals where events were happening in the background and such. Maybe some of the more pertinent cards would have cutscenes.
