You claim to be near 40 and you wrote this. About a video game. Evaluate yourself and your surroundings. Something is amiss in your life. I think it is a great idea that you quit. Next game you should play: Introspection.

There is nothing simple about his stating. Again, this is the point...

  • What you get from the kids is "TL;DR", or "Who cares", or "Like i needed to see this shit again", or "You claim to be near 40 and you wrote this. About a video game. ... I think it is a great idea that you quit"

  •
diatribe dʌɪətrʌɪb noun a forceful and bitter verbal attack against someone or something.
What I wrote is far from being a diatribe. I'm not bitter for starters. I really enjoyed playing Destiny and I think in many respects it's a great game. But as I saw more and more flaws (and the number of them growing every time Bungie released a patch or DLC). I thought I should quit before I became bitter. And while I was at it, I felt maybe a few people (and hopefully Bungie) would appreciate me putting some effort into detailing why I was no longer enjoying the game. Obviously quite a few mature people on these forums do appreciate the feedback and a lot of immature people don't. So, tell me, exactly how is providing constructive feedback and clarifying that feedback with more reasoned responses not acting like a 40 year old? I would be rather disappointed to find out half of the "TL;DR"/"Just Leave"/"Nobody Cares" posts are from people my age (or even half my age for that matter).

  • No, what you have shown is that a grown ass man can seek the attention of anonymous posters just as much as a 12 year old child. Do you really think anyone cares that you quit or even better, why? Gonna spoil it for you: No one knows you. No one cares. In less than 48 hours, no one will remember. As aforementioned, I can understand a 12 year old not understanding this. But you are a grown ass man.

  • I care. And I'm in my early 20s. That's why I've read his post as well as the comment section thus far. The fact that the Destiny forums are littered with complaints about the game only demonstrates that people do care. And obviously you care too, at least in the negative sense. You cared enough to not only reply to him, but also continue this conversation with him. So yes, people care. Frankly, it's not just a game, it was a symbol of what next-gen gaming can and should be, and it has disappointed a lot of people. Gaming these days (especially for adults) is more about escaping our mundane lives for a few hours of fun, as well as competition and cooperation with others. We all wanted this game to be the epitome of those things, not just another $60 time waster. It's not even about the money. It's a desire to experience something truly awesome. Here's to all of those who care about that stuff. To everyone else, including you, please go somewhere else for your anonymous troll fix.

  • You need to learn the different between providing feedback and seeking attention.
No one knows you
Agree
No one cares
Disagree - Several respondents have categorically stated that they care. Many others agree with the points I have raised. And now, rather than trying to answer my question, you have come up with a completely new point of argument. You fall into the classic group of 'can't think of a reasoned reply - create a new strawman argument' people (otherwise known as trolls).

  • Agreed. I'd be happy to hear more about your thoughts. I like intelligent ideas positive or negative and sincerely believe Bungie does too.

  • I'd be happy to share them - but they end up getting a bit too long winded ;) A few dot points: - While the story is a bit anemic, I think the way bungie have spread it between the playable story and the Grimoire has been very well executed. If they threw in a few more NPC to link the game to the Grimoire, that would make a big difference. I think Patrol missions and Bounties which included investigating rumours of long-lost lore would be neat. - Grimoire - very well thought out. Love it. - I often laugh at how the ghost can hack into the most sophisticated systems imaginable (the Vex transfer gates in the Eye of a Gatelord mission for example) but can never be able to open a door without setting of an alarm. I like how this adds a bit of character to the game. - The class ability trees, while a lot smaller that pretty much every other RPG, are well balanced. I initially felt that there was not a lot of distinction between the classes but now I feel completely differently. This is one area I think Bungie got 100% right. - The raid mechanics don't make sense. You do the raid to get gear for the raid - WTF. I was hoping that the Eris quest line would be more along the line of Eris preparing you for the raid. Giving that she was the sole survivor of an ill-fated raid and she spent years down there, she should have been able to give you a bit more info on what was going on. For example, I thought it would be a really neat idea to have the Eris quests provide the players with 'keys' to various parts of the new raid. So in order to complete the raid, the fireteam would first need to prepare for it be getting quest items that would be required to allow progress through the raid (keys that unlock doors, weapons that allow damage to be dealt to a particular boss, etc.). Take for example the Crota battle - You cannot regen health unless you are holding an artifact that just happens to be lying around at Crota's feet. What I think should have happened is that Eris, knowing that Crota blocked health regen, would send you on a quest line that would ultimately provide you with the artifact before you went into the raid (or you could try to raid without it). I understand the VoG raid was how it was because there were no (sane) survivors - Crota is completely different and yet the approach the the raid is exactly the same. - Armour upgrade mechanics needs a major overhaul. Imagine you have chest armour with a high Intellect which your bought from the Vanguard so you could use your super more often. If you do the raid, you may get a chest armour with no Intellect. So in order to level up, you have to sacrifice your desire to use your super more often. I don't know of any other game that can cause such massive sacrifice for a necessary upgrade. - I think the raid rewards should be something like 'special vanguard tokens' that could be used to fine-tune your gear - Weapon selection and upgrades (apart from the new exotic upgrade debacle) are pretty damb good. Just a pity that the VoG legendaries are going to rapidly become shelf ornaments. I think a LOT of people will be heartbroken when they are finally forced to retire Fatebringer - Economy needs a major overhaul. Everything that can be bought should be able to be sold (and visa-versa). I mean, new guardians are coming into the Tower all the time - where is the gear for them coming from if we are all dismantling it for spare parts?

  • No, I am done with you. I tried to show you how as a grown man you are embarrassing yourself with your delusion. You seem ok with embarrassing yourself. You seem ok with your delusion. No one cares. But you you seem to need people to care. I apologize for spoiling the chicanery you have built. No need to respond, it won't be acknowledged. You have yourself a great night!

  • Back when I was a "Boy" I was surrounded by too much pussy to be on a post saying negative things to a person just sharing a well thought out opinion. These children now days have respect, no depth perception, or any desire to look at things from a different perspective. They usually take the easy way out and use negativity. Because they lack the intelligence to engage in helping bring about a positive change.
