You can't try for legendary engrams. You just gotta let them come to you

It's really not. Each npc has a chance to drop a legendary. They just made the chance impossibly low after the original cryptarch fix that you can't really try for them. The last npc I actually saw drop a legendary engram was like 2 weeks ago.

though rare and i do mean rare ... the only time ive really seen legendary drop is on earth patrol in rocket yard .. ive gotten probably a total of 6 legendary engram drop post patch .. while loop farming spinmetal ..
