Crota Glitch Isn't Fixable & If it is, it will take a lot of work or we will have VOG all over again.

After getting a lot of messages I feel that I have to restructure this post a little bit. So let's face it. We all know the glitch with Crota & I'm not talking about the chalice glitch. The glitch where you start off in the room after touching the crystal, kill everything and take down Crotas sheild before leaving the room and having the host leave only for him to be stuck kneeling for the whole 9 minutes before enrage. Now a lot of people have come to these forums trying to get the glitch Patched & we can now see why bungie have kept the hard raid Untill next year to avoid any of these major game breaking bugs out of what will most likely be the current hardest possible thing to do in destiny. Before we start, Just a note: I personally don't have anything against people who use these methods as I understand that things can get hard at times and frustrating. I also belive that you should play the way that you feel is best, meaning that if you like to cheese then cheese, play legit then play legit. Edit: some people seem to assume that I am part of these people who glitch which is false. I won't lie that I have used these methods at least once before they spread all over the forums & YouTube. Luckily I got shards when I did it so I believe that's a good enough reward for my taking the easy way. Now, I'd like to touch base with a few known "exploits" I've seen in these forums and give an insight on how it is an exploit and if it isn't. 1. Being sent half way across the map due to a lamp explosion. Personally I don't see an issue with this. The lamps were designed to blow up after about 10-15 seconds, killing everything around it. Now if positiond on the rock correctly you will skip half the maze. Should this be fixed? No I personally don't see any reason to fix this. This is a speed runner or solo runners go-to spot to save time just like halo had a lot of spots that you could use to cut considerable time off your playthrough, heck most games have them. Besides it is a double edged sword as you can die very easy. 2. Bridge glitch. This glitch currently involves a group of players that have a sunslinger warlock to all die and have the warlock res 1 second before the timer hits 0. Edit: From what I've been told you can do this straight away but I haven't seen any proof as I don't cheese. Doing so will cause the sword bearer to be the only one on the side the guardians are on and all you have to do is wait and kill the ogres and wizards. Should it be fixed? Yes this should be fixed. I understand how people feel about this and belive it's not bad but this isn't how it was ment to be. You shouldn't leave sword dude by himself while you kill his friends on the other side, you should be running over one at a time. The way I see to combat this is to set up killzones on the platforms to the side or if one ogre is dead then the team gets the red death screen like when oracles kill you in the atheon fight and you lose your super to keep people waiting. Maybe keeping the enemies alive also like in VOG would be helpful too. 3. Chalice glitch. Now this glitch is Somthing that I don't really see any main issues with and ties into the one before. If you have a warlock and res right on the 1 second mark then you all should have the 'presence of Crota' debuff gone for the whole game (unless the chalice is picked up). Should it be fixed? Personally I say No. No i don't think it should be fixed as it's not really game breaking. Yes the chalice needs to be passed around but you can still die. You can still take Alot of damage and oversoul can still kill you. 4. Crota on his Knee - Now we have come to the big one. The reason you were all pulled to this post. The One where he gets on his knee and stays there and can be killed very quickly with little to no effort (one sword level 32, 2 swords 31). Now this is a topic up for debate in the comments on if it can be fixed or not with alot of people saying it can and giving different reasons but saying it can't and both sides have valid points so let's try look more deeply. Now can this be fixed? Yes but mainly No. I don't. The reason for this is that you are playing by the way it's ment to be played, shooting at Crota and Dropping his shields. To fix this would be to remove that mechanic alltogether which would require extensive downtime on the destiny servers (activision won't allow this) & trying to quickly patch on a solution without putting propper time, thort & testing would break the raid tremendously (look at VOG for example). The host is basically lagging the game when he quits destiny all together or removes Ethernet cable which keeps Crota down. You can't stop someone from quitting the actual game or removing the cable as both of those are console related not destiny related. Now a more serious question arises, Is there a fix for this? I belive yes. This glitch from what I've noticed and heard, Edit: apparently it can be done at anytime but is recommended doing so before enemies spawn. Can only be done before running out to the chalice. So making it that Crota can't take damage before the sword bearer is killed Or the boomers have spawned is one way. But another way is lowering the chance if getting good items if Crota is down longer then 10 seconds at a time. It will entice people to do it legit, want the good stuff? Play it the way we wanted you too, want shards? Cheese him, your call. Personally I belive bungie needs to put as much focus in Untill the hard raid drops and focus on these crucial parts which needs to be fixed (If they can be) AND ACTUALLY TEST THE PATCH BEFORE THEY RELEASE IT THIS TIME! So we don't have a VOG all over again & people aren't running around with necrochasms they didn't earn. Also need to fix: Crota falling of the platform and running up the stairs and killing everyone. Blowing up oversoul only for it to kill you anyway. The knight glitching through the crystal room. Crota having inconsistent kneeling times. The sword of the sword-bearer not dropping sometimes Crota getting all his health back. Ogres spawning on inconsistent rounds. How do you guys feel about these glitches? Edit 1: to people asking if I have any idea on what I'm talking about? Yes I do. I currently hold a cert 4 in digital and interactive gaming and I am going to university next year to further my studies in this field (Australian Course). And for people saying there is no such thing, http://www.evocca.edu.au/courses/it-multimedia/diploma-of-digital-and-interactive-games/ Edit 2: it has come to my attention that people on other platforms are posting that #4 is a result of taking the Ethernet cable out causes it which means that (like the Xbox) is not directly caused by destiny but the consoles themselves are being used to keep Crota down.

  • There is one other glitch that's really taking the p&%£ its stuck on the crota boss on hard even after restarting it keeps bring me back to the boss

  • If bungie doesn't patch at least the majority of these glitches, the next raid should just automatically give you random loot as soon as you start it. No enemies, no bosses. You just click and get loot. After all, that's all anyone seems to want xD.

      • First, stop calling it cheese. It's cheating. Cheese is camping up top and killing the Nexus with snipers. A fireteam leader leaving the team to force Crota to take a knee then killing him in one round is cheating. Let's call it what it is. I don't care if you cheat but be honest about it at the very least. I DO want the cheats on Crota fixed because I am sick of going into a Raid after clearly declaring that I have no interest in cheating only to have teammates get frustrated and impatient and try to force me to cheat with them. I like the Raids. I don't care if they take me all day, I am having fun either way. Why cheat anyway? If you're not going to bother to do the Raids legit, you don't really need the gear do you? The gear prepares you for the Raids. Nightfalls, Weeklys, etc.. can be done as a level 31 with guns you buy on the Tower. Cheat all you want, but don't tell me you finished Crota or Crota on Hard, cuz you didn't.

        • Allow me to play doubles advocate here for a moment. For all intensive purposes I think you are wrong. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies. We often put our false morality on a petal stool like a bunch of pre-Madonnas, but you all seem to be taking something very valuable for granite. So I ask of you to mustard up all the strength you can because it is a doggy dog world out there. Although there is some merit to what you are saying, it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero tallerants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go. Make my words, when you get down to bees nests it doesn't take rocket signs to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.

            Im not sure what the point is for bungie to hold of on releasing hard mode when you can still get a full set of armor/many weapons in normal Glitches need to be fixed either way..

              • to everyone saying add an over soul after a certain period of time if crota stays down, or send the party to orbit if the fire-team leader leaves, you do know those things will happen even if you don't cheese it right? if there is server lag, BAM over-soul, if the fire-team leader gets lag, BAM, everyone is sent to orbit. this would punish everyone not just people who cheese. a better fix would be to make it the party's instance instead of the fire team leads instance. this works for crota cheese, testing it i had the party wipe after i came in, and since we reset, it didn't work. so, share the instance with the whole party. i don't see an issue with the chalice, as i feel that is a bit much having to worry about grabbing an item just to regain health, instead they should have it be put on the ground and everyone around it heals, or have it as an AOE, so everyone would join up on the chalice holder, similar to the Templar fight and being marked. the bridge is an easy fix as well, just increase the range of the adds, allowing them to go into the back room. one way to work out the incentive to cheese in the first place is to increase the drop rate or rare items the longer it takes a group to complete the raid, say .5% per wipe, or .5% per 30min on a boss, that way the party looks to keep going even if they are dying. for those of you who say that is unfair to those who complete it quickly, i reply, You already have the gear needed to complete it quickly! the only reason you keep doing raids is for mats and the exotic weapons.

              • I dont remember where I read it but I read a great idea for a fix in another thread a week or so back. If Crota is stuck in a kneeling position for more than 10 seconds spawn in an invincible overshield= automatic wipe. If you are doing it legit you know he only kneels for a few seconds so 10 is pretty much guaranteed to be a cheesy fire team deserving of a wipe. Another possible fix would be a mechanic change. Get rid of the kneeling mechanic and instead spawn in the gatekeeper knights from the bridge portion every time crota loses say 10-15% of his health and make his ranged attack more effective (similar to atheon without times vengance). This would make the sword still relevant but not the main focus of the raid, also if he kept his shield it would make it neccessary to keep DPSing him so that it doesnt regenerate, and with the health debuff it would make for a challenging fight worthy of being end game.

              • I don't know how to fix all of them :D I mean there are at lest 5 methods to solo the bridge-part without killing the sword-guy. The biggest joke is, that you just have to activate the plate and then go up the stairs and stand at the far back wall of the room where the swordbearer spawns to despawn all enemies on your side. This is way to simple. Serious

              • I dont care if they fix the cheese (crota never getting up) with all the glitchs that happen in the raid at time's trying to beat it legit could take 6+ hours and im sorry but i have a life.but if we cheesed... its done in 5 mins, i've beat the raid legit twice,but its me and my 2 friends (all 3 of us are skilled) but when i have to go to the forms to get randoms those randoms could mess you up which can increase the time it takes to beat the raid. and then after the long hassle me and my friends would end up with shards/energy and the randoms who kept screwing us up get the good shit its not fair.

              • People should just stop mentioning banning.....bungie is not going to ban those who have cheesed because they will lose a HUGE chunk of their base gammers......it would basically kill their game and any hopes of continuing their "10 year plan" foe destiny........my suggestion would be they test properly and only release material when it is tried and ready

                • This post is a lot of needless to know info. All of the glitches are fixable through coding. The devs dob't have to redesign half of the raid to fix the glitches as you are suggesting.

                  • Regarding 4. Everything you've put is incorrect. a) It is definitely fixable and shouldn't take too long as it'll be a top priority bug fix for the Hard Raid. It's also incredibly easy to test the fix. b) There would be absolutely no reason to need to change the mechanics in order to fix it c) It's not [i]caused[/i] by disconnecting, it's [i]triggered[/i] by disconnecting. It's[i] caused[/i] by Bungie's code being unable to deal with that situation. A situation that [i]should[/i] have been tested for and fixed before release. There are only two reasons why it wouldn't have been: - i) QA didn't find it - ii) Some producer somewhere decided it wasn't important enough to be fixed for release Neither of these are ideal situations, but they happen frequently in every game that's released. One of them [i]will[/i] be true. d) Your proposed fixes are unneeded. This situation can be fixed properly in the way it's meant to be.

                  • From a guy who has had 7 years doing networking based programming. My guess as to how this so called glitch works is that the server times are synced with the leader of the fire teams current time. When he quits like that and the servers don't have time to switch and recalculate the time with a new fireteam leader, it causes them to still use the last updated time packet from the fireteam leader. If so then it is rather an easy fix on bungies part. But knowing bungie they more than likely used some obscure method of constant update checks requiring a ping packet with a timestamp from the current fireteam leader. Which is why we get those inconsisten kneeling times. In all honesty they should have just used a server based time and have all players feel the lag simultaneously rather than at akward times.

                  • TL;DR -- "Cheesing" is fine if a Warlock is doing it since OP is a Warlock. Any other "cheese" [u][i][b]NEEDS[/b][/i][/u] to be removed and users banned... especially hunters.

                  • The easiest fix would be to add a cooldown after leaving a fireteam in the middle of a session. It's something that should have been implemented after the first Iron Banner to mitigate the mid game bailing bullshittery.

                    • The bridge glitch doesn't even require a warlock. You just need to go into the back room and hop onto a box and then wait until ogres spawn on the opposite side. The bridge will just be active. Is that even cheating? - You just walk into a place and you're done. Definitely needs to be fixed though.

                    • I believe the ogres spawning is on a timer rather than "rounds" so that is not an issue imo

                      • Personally it wouldn't bother me if they left ever cheese in the raid, except when it comes to Crota. You should in no way be able to cheese the boss and run around with the weapons other people worked for.

                      • I don't know much about the technical side of things, but would there be any way to tether everyone's connection to the host, so if the host gets disconnected everyone gets disconnected as well? Also is there a way to work around the fact that people get disconnected for legitimate reasons? Like being able to tell whether it was an intentional disconnect, or just lost connection?
