Personally use slash, slash, uppercut, smash first turn with sword.
Slash, slash, uppercut, smash, super on 2nd turn with sword.
That combo is ultra fast, it does only slightly less damage then the 3 smash strategy in about 1.5 seconds less time which ensures a safe exist for swordbearer and no unnecessary wipes for the team.
I believe Slash does 6400 each time, uppercut is 12800, smash is 14000. R1, r1, r2, r2 is the combo, the third r2 triggers a lightning fast uppercut.
Also hitting him with combos ensures your super is ready regardless if your team gave you orbs so you can add major damage to him the 2nd attack.
I personally find this the best balance between aggression and safety and beats him with 3 swords.

I am on playstation and am the swordbearer on all 3 of my characters for my clan, warlock, titan and hunter and i don't need to use any invisible perk to time my run to hit him with an R1, R1, R2, R2, Special combo nearly everytime. 40% each sword his health goes and i've been killed by crota maybe thrice in 30 sword runs since the raid has come out. Oh i think your are using some old lame, fighting game cliche. ok.

Maybe i am not seeing the exact figures correctly but i know for sure a 5 figure hit pops up for the uppercut, which means the combo i quoted is DEFINITELY the best way to attack him as it deals 4 hits for a combined 35-40k damage in 1-2 seconds less then it takes to hit him with a 35-40k 3 smash basic combo.

4 smash is over 50k damage. Timing is everything on those runs as you know. And if your timing is as good as you claim then the safe exit should be guaranteed if your up to crota as he's starting to kneel.

And my timing is as good as it needs to be to beat crota in 3 swords with minimal fuss and no wipes, your smartass remark about my timing been as good as i claim is unnecessary as i run the sword on all 3 classes for my clan where as you clearly don't. My clan would rather be in and out of crota within 10 minutes then waste heavy ammo packs or have wipes due to an over greedy swordbearer. Every smartass i've seen claim 4 smash hits are easy can never post video proof without 2-3 deaths each run. Post a video of you smash hitting crota 4 times EVERY sword attack without dying once and i will pay attention to you scrub.

According to dattodoesdestiny at level 31 3 sword smashes does 43000 damage vs the slash slash smash x 2 = 50,000. Divide the smash by 3 it's roughly 14333.3333333333333 per smash. Multiply that by 4 and you get??? Over 50k per hit. It's exactly 57,333.3333333. So that's an extra 7300 damage per sword run. X 2 sword runs per round that's 14600 more damage AT LEVEL 31 per round.

ps. its an extra 1.5 seconds at crota for just 7k extra damage - unnecessary risk if you ask me. It;s 3 swords regardless. Its like arguing about driving an extra 10 miles per hour when we both arrive at the same destination at the same time due to traffic and traffic lights.

I did see that number and it definitely had me interested to try it next time we run it to see if it takes some pressure off the sword bearer. Those are good facts. Thanks for the post.

We had him down to 45% after the first sword on tuesday using a slash, slash, uppercut, special, smash (both sword attacks - my team dropped 12 orbs for me on the rock) So i was doing 6700, 6700, 11800, ???, 14000 damage each combo. super = ????

May fluctuate a little but it's the best source we have so far and pretty close to other information I've come across.

Perhaps it's just because i've normally nailed him with an exceelent combo pre super or they are seeing my super+final smash as one move on his health bar.

Yeah I may have read the chart wrong. Check it out it's pretty helpful I don't use the sword so you're more familiar with the actual combos then I am. I just know smash and slash lol. I kill ads, dps crota, and keep track of his shield call outs for our sword guy. If the link doesn't work just google and it should bring you to a reddit page with charts and a breakdown of the damage numbers for commonly used combos.

Can you pull that off 5-6 times in a row without dying? A 4 smash combo? be honest. Maybe 1 run a week... but not every run... crota seems to getup awful quick sometimes. I've been right next to him as an invisible hunter and after using 3 smashes instantly i can still hear his sword clip my hair as i high tail off the platform. Thats with max agility and hunter swordbearer boots.

No definitely not every time. The raid just came out a week ago. I didn't mean to come off sounding like a smart ass was just giving you the benefit of the doubt. 4 sword smashes has probably happened about 40% of the time with my regular group just because we didn't feel like wiping and our sword guy goes invis. I think once everyone gets the timing down better people will be doing 4 consistently and 5 occasionally.

No worries man. You gotta have thick skin to post on this forum sometimes. Lol I'm learning to stay level headed with my replies it makes for a much nicer outcome. Good posts and info hopefully more concrete info comes about with a little more experience.

And just to add to that, i run as the swordbearer for all 3 characters for my clan. I delete characters often but i've run it as warlock, titan and hunter. Hunters using invisibility can definitely get away with an extra second or two at crota and maybe you are using that to pull such long combos at crota?

I dunno about that, i believe you when you say you have time, but it would absolutely be cutting it fine. i'd imagine you get swatted by crota attempting that greedy combo quite a bit and wouldn;t advise new swordbearers or people without a cohesive clan who has the timing perfected to attempt a lengthy combo like that. I'll try it next time, thanks for the tip. If you are correct then you should be doing about 60-70% per sword.
