A friend of mine picked it up killing the hive when we were doing patrols on the moon. Totally random drop.

only from blades of crota it is possible to get a "proximity kill" giving the illusion it drops from something else but really someone killed a blade of crota nearby and it gave him the drop

Yes she just confirmed that is was the blades of Crota. She just got a second drop that is two in 2 days. lol.
