Actually this game is a lot like so many other games currently highly popular on the PC. But this is a new genre for console and with that you get a lot of criticism.
If you're interested in this type of game genre then it's one of the best console games out there. To me it is. I suggest you read some articles about RNG and RNGesus. It's fun and might give you some insight in how this gametype works.
It's sad to see bungie burned down so hard since they're trying to pioneer on the console. I think they did a good job keeping the game on an average in overall. That way everyone keeps busy playing the game and only the truly lucky ones are bored, because they have every item they wanted :)

What this man said, and hope the negativity don't screw it up for developers to push this genre into the future! All I hear is grind this grind that, this game isn't a grind lol. I mean takes me 5 minutes to get ready for a raid not a fricking evening! Monkey

I very much disagree with your statement that the game isn't a grind. You claim that it takes you 5 minutes to get ready for a raid. Sure, that may be true now, but how long did it take you to get your gear which allows you to do a raid? You can't honestly say that after 1 play through of the game, missions and strikes, you got every piece of gear needed to bring you to lvl 28 so you can do the VoG. I simply do not believe it.

I was raid ready by the time VOG was released. I was 31 a couple of days after dlc landed and was raiding the same day. I started VOG at lvl 26. Monkey

I don't doubt that, but you must have repeated strikes many times to get the gear for it. That's what people are referring to as "the grind". Grinding is one of the tools Destiny uses to keep people playing for long periods of time. Xur is another example. If you want 1 specific exotic weapon/armor piece from him and he doesn't have it this weekend, you have to wait until next weekend to try your luck again. And again. And again. The presence of grinding in a game is a prime indicator for lack of content. If there was a better reward system and more missions, you wouldn't need to repeat them to gear up before being ready for the raids.

You don't have to do anything, it's a option a choice lol. The game isn't flawless but it's pretty dam good, I know what a grind is I played wow endgame for 6 years. Grinding rep, grinding mounts, grinding passive pets, grinding the materials etc etc. Monkey

Monkey
Did you even EQ bro? ;) Between 50-60 hours every week for 6 years in a top raid guild, that was a grind that put every MMO I've ever played since in the shade. (Even the Korean ones) Anyway, Destiny is still grindy. Exacerbated by the lack of real variety in task and destinations. At least in actual MMOs you a choice of 100 things to grind, not the dozen as in Destiny
