I agree with what you researched thewy do guard something, the entrance into the vault of glass. they are protecting atheons home/doorway. So bungie used gorgons because they are doing exactly what you have described. But what I want to talk about is something I did not believe when I was told it as the dude has not always been the most forthright with us (fireteam). But he says his brother ( who I have played with and is an excellent destiny player) did the following; - completed flawless raider up to the jumping puzzle - while also not losing a sync plate in the beginning - not letting Templar teleport - not getting gazed by the gorgons And he says that when they got to the doorway of the VoG (atheons room) that the old decrepit vex gate out in the middle of nowhere was open. they went inside as a team and there was some ungodly amount of praetorians in there with a chest they tried to make it to the chest but all died and since they messed up the flawless raider when the reloaded the vex gate was then closed. Again I don't not necessarily believe him as he could be blowing smoke up my warlock robes, but it did resonate as a plausible chance to find a secret if one exists Do you buy this? does anyone want to try this?
