Handcannons are fluff weapons, not viable in Raids/Nightfall. It's like your commute vehicle you take to work all week, with it's automatic transmission. Then on the weekends you break out the stick for cruising up the coastline.
Edit: I still don't believe Handcannons have the required sustainable DPS to outperform rifles in Raid situations. My 324 Thorn severely underperforms on the Crota fight in all aspects, compared to my 300 Vision of Confluence.
If this game had a damage meter rather than just a kill counter then this matter would be easy to settle, but it doesn't so unless you can show me some proof then I'm afraid I can't give into the hype.

I'm a hand cannon freak and I'm going to disagree with the Nightfall point completely, disagree with VoG point completely, and half agree with Crotas End point. In NF my DYK and TLW puts in work (and now FB) and I have had no problems completing any of them with either gun. VoG same thing, both do me justice. Now Crotas End is a bit different - my DYK (lol anyone catching on yet?!) is effective damage wise, but fires too slow to handle mobs and doesn't have firefly, although it's got explosive rounds. I wasn't putting sustained dps (like you had said)on enemies fast enough. So I had to switch at the bridge to TLW. Now TLW however, was absolutely amazing even with only 8 rounds. Odd thing is, is my DYK is attack 300 and TLW is 287, a decent 2 level attack gap there. The difference is the fire rate of TLW making up for the lower fire rate, AND TLW's exotic perk granting increased accuracy and precision damage when hip fired which I've gotten extremely good at. FB is good for everything up to now currently, but will be underpowered for hard mode Crotas End.

I'm with you on this use the last word and the devil you don't no trouble at all in all strikes and raids
-
What are you shooting with primary on crota? Only thing I use primary for on that is a thrall here and there the rest is all icebreaker and rockets.
-
Pretty sure hand cannons are good in vog don't know about Crota yet but I'm guessing my fatebringer is gonna beast the first part of it
-
Fatebringer is great for pve specially arc burn nightfalls... if I didnt have voc and atheons bullethose I would use thorn or hawkmoon for other nightfall burns...
-
What the hell are you even talking about cough opinion cough
-
The reload time also reduces dps considerably. Field scout helps. One with firefly would be nice.
-
False. The guy who one manned crota used fate bringer.
-
I'm not saying he didn't use the Fatebringer though.
-
Then why did the dude solo the raid use 1 almost the whole time
-
Personal preference?
-
According to the dude the fatebringer is the best weapon in the game
-
Which dude?
-
sc Slayerage
-
He was the guy in the video?

Now who's scSlayerage?
Handcannons are fluff weapons, not viable in Raids/Nightfall.
Fatebringer + either raid or arc nightfall = awesome, you are wrong good sir
-
Not true. I use fatebringer in both and crush with it. Even the level 32s it brings down, takes a few more rounds but they drop. And against the vex, mostly the gobs and hobgobs, it's almost not even fair. It handles minataurs pretty easy too.
-
I keep hearing of Fatebringer and Hawkmoon. All I have is Thorn and it's great, but not raid worthy imo. I hope I get one of the other Handcannons to see what everyone's hyped about, because I'm just not seeing it.

Thorn is great in raid.. learn how to aim and time the dot!

Edited by PapaCap: 12/21/2014 4:26:16 AMNailing a boss and waiting for the DoT to tick down before hitting him again isn't the greatest idea. And reloading a few shots before the end of each clip just so the DoT can tick away while you reload is wasted DPS, not only from the increase in reloads, but the fact those are three rounds in every clip you're not using, the last of which deals increased damage. I'm not sure what you meant by "time the DoT," but those are the scenarios I assumed you meant. The only real use the DoT has is keeping shields off of mobs when they duck-and-cover to recharge them, aside from a small damage bonus.

Called crowd control buddie and precision shots

Edited by keppernator: 12/19/2014 10:58:31 PMI will double the amount of kills you get in the new raid with my sucky fate bringer with less than half the ammo you will use. The more kills I have its pretty simple the more damage I've done. Proof is in the kills
