I hate it when people cry on the forums, but reading this they have a point...

It's all true. The hardcore, money giving players are being s##t on.

  • Let me tear this apart, in the order of the article 1. Arcane and Counterintuitive systems - the author has clearly never read a D&D rule book and expects everything to be based on XP or purchase with a single currency. I like my games a little bit more complex. 2. Those that invested time into Destiny are in a much better position to take on TDB that those that didn't. What did they expect, insta-level32 if you had completed VoG once? 3. 1 week in every 6 people who didn't buy the DLC cannot do the Nightfall - just don't play Destiny that week if it upsets people as much as they claim, you clearly didn't like Destiny enough to buy the DLC anyway. 4. The people I know are running VoG for materials now to upgrade the new Legendaries, and getting gear is a disappointment. 5. Clearly the author has never levelled a weapon and dismantled it to get 5 Radiant Energies and then converted them to 5 Radiant Shards at Eris. What would be the point in any other activity dropping Radiant materials if you don't have the DLC? 6. Obviously they were lucky and got all 9 types of gun after just 3 runs through VoG. I have not been quite so lucky, I may have 6 Vision's, 5 Fatebringers and a Timepiece but after nearly 40 completions I still don't have a Foil, so I'm sure to have 189 Radiant Energies long before I have 9 different guns to fully upgrade. They state they will never get 189 Energies (takes 10-15 Raids), which is their own admission that they don't play Destiny much. 7. Raid guns have always done the same damage as Vendor guns (300), it's the special abilities that set them apart. 8. They have no idea about stat allocation. My gear ranges between 80-170 not 120-160, so another clear indication they haven't paid much attention to the actual game. If armor didn't have random stats, getting the same piece a second time would be worthless. My Titan has had 7 VoG Gauntlets now (and no boots) and each time I get another I compare it to the ones I already have and decide which ones I will invest Shards in, again no change there. 9. So you can't get lucky and hit level 32 after your first raid - boo hoo (I still hate all the people that hit level 30 on their first VoG raid, even my friends that did it! - well hate is a bit strong). It is much more likely most people will hit level 32 at the about the same time, after around 10 raids (although you could still do it after just 5 or 6). 10. Vendor armor allowed you to get to level 29 (30 - 1) and now you can get to level 31 (32 - 1), so again there is no change there, so why does it comes a surprise? It's not impossible to beat CE with a fireteam of 6 30's, but Vendor gear makes it easier. I have no idea why the first fireteam to complete CE didn't spend the first few minutes upgrading to level 31. I had 200 Vanguard and 200 Crucible Marks, 4 Factions all about 10 XP from the next Rank, and 30 bounties worth 5000 XP and a stack of Public Event rewards worth 2500 XP each, ready to turn in so I could hit 31 almost immediately. 11. 300 dmg weapons do just 10% less damage than 331 dmg weapons - the equivalent of 1 in 11 bullets missing their target. Vision, Timepiece and Fatebringers elemental damage make up for that against shielded enemies, so they cannot be compared to Rare (blue) weapons, and a 300 dmg Gjallerhorn is still better than a 331 dmg vendor legendary. 12. "The loot model doesn't benefit anyone" - lol, clearly they haven't seen all the new Legendaries that don't come from Vendors or the Raid. 13. Ha, they got every stat (except Ascendant Material) about previously upgrading an Exotic wrong. I had 15 fully upgraded Exotic weapons and another 15 duplicates. I reset 6 of these unlevelled Exotics weapons this week (turning them into better versions than they were before) and reset my Exotic armor only if it had better stats. I would have sharded my fully upgraded Armamentarium for the Discipline 167 version this week, even if it was for another Light 30 one! 14. Destination materials no longer need to be collected, you can get 20 for just 10 Marks (remember I had 1200 Marks and nothing to spend them on until now). 15. The decision not to have Exotic Energies and to be able to convert Radiant Energies to Shards were both improvements in my opinion. Those who bought Exotics, regardless of whether they levelled them up, are still better off than those that didn't, and don't get me started about those "dedicated players" that "worked" for them by simply opening a chest. Clearly this person has never played a RPG and then purchased DLC for it that renders all their "hard earned" gear inferior. 16. Bungie didn't have to provide an upgrade path for Exotics and you don't have to use it. I will probably just shard my 300 dmg Exotics once my dupes are fully upgraded and continue buying Exotic Armor and Engrams, saving me coins and Glimmer. You can carry far more than 25,000 Glimmer, just don't cash in your consumables (House Banners etc) at the Cryptarch until you need to. 17. They then infer they have 38 different fully levelled Exotics, I know they didn't buy them all from Xur, so they must be one of the people that "worked" for them by opening chests. You got your lucky free drops and now you are demanding Bungie upgrade them for free - get lost. 18. I can complete VoG on normal in just over 30 minutes now, and they want that to potentially drop 4 pieces of Light 33 armor. They then want to make VoG easier and make the armor even better than Light 33 - if I told everyone they would get a 100% pay rise and then told them tax would be dropped to 1%, of course I would get your vote. 19. Vendor's selling level 31 gear already gives players who don't Raid a progression path - *scratches head* 20. Then they go back to wanting insta-32 with the 800 Ascendant materials they have stockpiled (I kid you not, I have friends with this many) and awarding Radiant materials to people even if they don't have the DLC, which they then have to exchange.
