So I was doing some thinking about the wall game mode that I see posed here from time to time. But the idea is a little tame, so I thought how it could be made better. And I came up with a question: Should Destiny release DLC that directly effects the story of what’s to come??? And I don’t just mean what order story plots come in but things likes like, does the traveler live or die? Does Rasputin fight for or against humanity? Do you turn the Queen into an ally or enemy? I am wondering if a huge community goal like safe guarding the travel would benefit the game. But it has to be real, we would have to have a real chance at both failure and success. And the outcome of the event cannot be scripted at all. That idea, that my play-time is Really writing the story of the game in that profound of a manner (in my opinion) has never been done before. And again, I think that that concept is something destiny is trying to do. But it does this only by listening to feedback and that is not something new. The thing is when I play Destiny I want to play in a way that, well redefines playing a console game. I don’t think there is any hiding from the fact that Destiny is Safe, Complacent, repetitive and dry of a game at times. What keeps me playing for as much as I do is the flawless mechanics and stunning landscapes. But passed that it offers very little. But that reason to play will only last for so long, Destiny needs to leave the nest and become its own game. The outline I toyed with was: Game mode, The Wall, 1. Mission protect the cities walls a. Three walls, trillions of HP each b. Every wall breached will have consequences in Destiny 2 c. Every wall saved will have consequences in Destiny 2 d. The travelers life (light) is what hangs in the balance 2. Event time a. Months 3. Event features a. The attack would just start, no info other than the start time would be released b. Players are left to gather Intel in real time. i. It is fun to think of what this could mean for streamers or youtubers c. Players are left to discover the array of offensive and defensive measures at their disposal, including: i. Jump ship combat ii. Space combat iii. Wall artillery iv. Wall repairer 4. Goals a. To promote massive cooperation in and out of game. b. To make players feel like this is there world. These are just my thoughts and I have many more, but for now it is great fun playing around with what Destiny could be in my head. Personally I think that this is too big of an undertaking for D1 but maybe not for D2, the point is Destiny could be so much more and I hope it wants to be something else other than what it is right now. What do you all think?
