"Exotic upgrade paths require much less time and material" is a half truth
Anyone else feel that it was a half truth when Deej wrote this about the Exotic upgrades. It does require less materials, however I have notice no difference in the amount of time it takes to upgrade an exotic. But hey what was I expecting.....
Edit 1; I would love to see some numbers from Bungie or a clarification on their definition of "Much Less"
Edit 2; So seems that some people, along me, misinterpreted "Much less time" as less XP. Seems that Bungies concept of this, is that will take less time leveling them up due to; gathing planet resources is much easier, and removal of ascendant materials. I wish they would have stated this better rather than a blanket "Much less time" comment.

3 RepliesI made a post about this earlier. Did the math and research myself. It cost 212k to max out Ice Breaker before, it now costs 240k xp. Each node used to be 17.6k to unlock, they are now 20k. Thanks bungie. For lying again

Much Less, is just Deej/Bungie's way of lying to your face BEFORE the patch is out so you buy and feel screwed AFTER having bought it. Scamming 101. As IF the shit-shard, exotic shard economy spawned from TDB is fast OR efficient. [b]They just increased the grind by making everyone start over and lied to our faces about it, in effect.[/b]

I noticed a huge difference when upgrading my icebreaker. An exotic usually takes me two days worth of bounties on all 3 characters but i had it back to max on Friday after upgrading it

Maxed my ice breaker in less than 2 days without telemetry I thought it was hell of a lot faster IMO

Thorn isn't taking that long for me, but Ice Breaker sure is taking its sweet time. I don't think it takes less materials though, those shards can be a**es to get.

Still working on my thorn 2.0! Taking to damn long. Doing bounties and having the bonus handcannon xp consumable is not helping. That is not fast enough. Also killing almost the whole planet of mars, venus and russia barely levels it up.

I'm guessing 21 acendant materials to them is way more than 1 exoitx shard. Even tho by now the average player have over 200 shards and maybe 10 exoitc shards

Some people have noticed it actually took more xp to level it lol smh I hate bungie less materials but exotic weapons are slow as dicks to level up that's why we complained. Takes icebreaker like a month cuz I just use it on bosses I don't snipe mobs

Felt about the same as before honestly. Several bounties a day, turned them in with IceBreaker equipped and I just finally finished maxing it yesterday.

Bought Suros 2.0 upgrade last Friday and I'm not noticing any accelerated level up progress - if anything seems slower. Also the complete upgrade will cost 2 Exotic shards(7 coins each) and 12500 Glimmer(Glimmer for Xur plus more to buy the level up progress) and dozens of Heliums. That's too much for a gun I've already leveled completely once.

I think it "takes less time" means you don't have to go farming you can just buy them now

All the nodes minus the last four take less time, but the last four ones ... They are hell! I have been trying to upgrade my Ice Breaker since last Tuesday and I have only reached the first of the last four DMG upgrade nodes ... I keep throwing bounties at it and it moves like an effing snail!

1 ReplyOn the suros 2.0, I did the xp from the daily (7500 xp), a public event (xp ?), 7 bounties (27500 xp), all with the nightfall bonus (+22% xp), and an auto rifle telemetry in effect (xp x 2?). All those combined was enough to fill 1 1/4 damage bubbles. To me, it's the exact same amount of xp to level, and I actually leveled a suros 1.0 in 2 days on one character (pre patch/dlc). This time (post DLC), I rotated the suros across 3 characters doing the Daily, pubs, and all vanguard bounties. It still took me two days. No where did bunjie say that the version 2.0 of original exotics require less xp to level than their 1.0 version. They stated that there were "more paths" to exotics (different ways to aquire them). They also stated it would be "easier" to level exotics. By "easier", I believe they are referring to the change in patch 1.0.3 that removes the need for acsendant materials as well as being able to aquire materials without farming. Too many people jumped to the conclusion/made the assumption that "easier" meant less xp. To prove me wrong, I challenge someone to apply the exact same bounties on a fresh ver 1.0 AND 2.0 of the same exotic to see what happens.

It is a lot easier to get strange coins (aka exotic shards) than upgrade materials. This cuts down the time for upgrades by a lot, unless you have shards piled up for days like myself.

I bought an engram from xur, got obsidian mind, had it fully leveled up on Saturday

Obsidoan mind - nightfall + 2 days worth of bounties. Done. Thorn - nightfall + 2 days of bounties 3 upgrades left.

I actually have. Bought a new exotic Helmet from xur and leveled him relatively fast up. My guess is that the sped up the process by about 20%. Since old exotics are out of Business, its impossible to get actual numbers, but I can see no reason why Bungie should fake this info.
