I hate it when people cry on the forums, but reading this they have a point...

It's all true. The hardcore, money giving players are being s##t on.

  • Whats disappointing is that it just has so much potential to easily keep a large fan base for 10 years. But screwing over all the players that grinded before the expansion was a stupid move. I just cba playing it now because i think whats the point, Imight as well just wait till house of wolves is out to play that for a bit seeing as I can just be the same level as everyone that grinded on crotas end when its released. But then ill just think the same when that comes out, leading to me just not wanting to play the game. I find more motivation to come on the forums at the moment.

i wonder how many people actually bought the dlc out of all the people that play destiny. most likely more than half of those people did not but they shouldn't be considered "important players" for the simple fact that they didn't find it important enough to buy it. and they will sit and wonder while they cry over not being able to do the nighfall or weekly that the dlc wasn't worth it. even though we knew bungie was going to hold back the story to only release the rest in the dlc's you cant cry over it just because you decided not to get it.

    • This article nailed it! Those who created 3 opposite characters are screwed when it comes to obtaining lvl32... I have been hardcore for this game since i got it but im about to bail and play COD and Borderlands!

      • Yep, those characters are certainly getting screwed by having a path to keep their exotic hoard relevant. Too bad this isn't a game like WoW where all your best weapons and armor were automatically upgraded to the new armor/damage max.....

      • "And I hope you enjoy doing this, because presumably, this entire process will start over when the House of Wolves expansion launches next year. This is your endgame." Jesus fuqing Christ, FML. What a fuqing mess of a game but there is nothing else out there, it's bone dry.

      • There's good and bad about the DLC. I think it's great that they gave us an upgrade path for our current exotics, but I don't think it goes far enough. Specifically, I hate that I have to wait for Xur and hope that he has what I need to reset them. Why can't the gunsmith do that? The story and missions are flat, boring, and don't have a lot of replay value, but the same can be said for the missions that shipped with the original game, and since this DLC was announced pre-launch, I'm not surprised that things that were coded back then couldn't be completely reworked in a 3 month period. It sucks, but that's the issue when the DLC is coded at the same time the game is coded, before any meaningful feedback is given ( Agile Development, anyone?). The strike is on-par with all the other strikes. After playing it, I'm not exactly raring to play it 300 more times. It certainly didn't bring anything new to the table in terms of game mechanics or puzzle solving. The raid (what I've seen of it so far) is fantastic, but so was VoG (before all the bugs). Hopefully Bungie doesn't patch this one into oblivion. I haven't gotten far enough to know if the new loot system works well, but I have 8 radiant energy and 2 radiant shards that make me worried that I'll never find raid gear (never actually found any in the VoG, and I even beat it on hard). One thing I will say about these negative media reviews - I keep seeing them say "We're reviewing the DLC, but we haven't tried the raid", which to me is like a restaurant critic saying "I went to the new burger joint and I ate the bun and the fixings, but didn't try the burger." Not that they don't have valid points about the non-raid stuff included in the DLC, but giving a review and skipping the raid means that they really aren't qualified to do a review on this DLC. Just my opinion.

      • Eh, why am i not surprised...had to be Daniel Friedman. Another poster-child of these 'expert' review sites glorifying indie games with fair innovation but 2/10 re-playability, then complaining about either box costs or sub fees as they spend $50 a day on soy lattes and their lifetime contract to Apple products. I'd get my reviews from 'users' on metacritic over these review sites, they're imploding atm.

This article is a joke. So many inaccuracies. Update: There are some good comments made in the article. There are far more inaccuracies though. To me it seems like the author doesn't know that much about how the game actually works, which is why I say the article as a whole is a joke.

          • This dude is a joke. Talk about negative attitude. Why can't people see the better half of life? For all the people continuously complaining on the forums, surprised they still tell the community how pissed they are instead of playing anything else for their entertainment.

Bungie, you did a great job of handling level progression and transition with the DLC. There, someone had to say it. All I ever read on these forums is bitch, bitch, moan, moan, I have played this game for over 10 hours and expect to be given everything this game has to offer so I can go and play something else, bitch, moan, bitch. Well go and play something else, you won't be missed. I read the article and the author comes across as someone who has hardly played the game and has based the article on what they have read - full of inaccuracies.

              • I've always loved Destiny. I'm an addict and I know it. I just don't find myself having fun anymore. I regret my decision to make all 3 classes. In the time it will take me to get all 3 to 32 the new dlc will be out and vanguard gear will be better than my newly upgraded raid gear. I'm losing my love for Destiny. It's more work now than fun.

                  • I disagree with the opinion piece entirely. The vault of glass gear is meant to be used IN the raid, and as a token of your accomplishment, as if to say, "look at where I have been" with your collection of gear. It's good enough for most activities anyway, but you are meant find new, and better gear as the game grows. The vendor gear is upgraded with the community in mind. Didn't buy the expansion? That's ok, your gear won't necessarily fall behind those who did buy it.

                    • I couldn't finish reading that OPINION piece. Maybe later. But I have a hard time with writers on the internet creating clickbait material. They go after Destiny like other well notable games arent worth being chastised as Destiny is subject to. When I read that the new skill progression disrespects the old skilled weapons, I stopped reading. Disrespect? Jesus, the game didnt spit at your mother. With new weapons and gear comes a new grind. So we want all the old weapons and gear to follow us well into the 5th year of Destiny's development? That upsets balancing and provides a clutter of memory used items that we should just let go of. Dissing Destiny is a hot topic and web journalism has become highly questionable when dealing with such a complex matter. They dont entertain the truth that what they are doing with Destiny is not uncommon in a MMO world, but uncommon on a console. That its simply a game, that provides entertainment and is well visited when do with friends. In the end, its not a big deal but in the internet world, Destiny is all bits of wrong. They will say that and play their COD or playing their Assassin's creed unity. If anybody should be getting that much press, it should be Ubisoft.

                      • Doesn't sway my opinion, didn't see any mention of the energy<->shards trading, of course he based this off the fact there are only 2 chests (remember when there were only two VoG chests?) And as has already been pointed out, is a bit of a whiny bitch. There will still be a chance for Bungie to patch in higher drop values or other ways to obtain materials at a future date, or tweak the system if it really isn't working. But anybody who can't see why Bungie made this decision needs to get a grip. Frankly to write a quote such as "Bungie has punished everyone who trusted them or invested time into progressing a Guardian with Destiny: The Dark Below, and vindicated everyone who agreed with the original 6-out-of-10 review scores." Is over the top, reactionary bullshit. Somebody needs to sit this princess down, and tell her that it's all going to be ok, the world will not end just because she didn't reach max rank within 1 week.

                      • I think the author of the piece really did himself, and everyone else a disservice. There are some valid points to be sifted from the piece, but the delivery was just pathetic. Instead of constructing a professional piece of journalism, the guy let his vitriol and emotion come into the piece far beyond what was at the heart of the matter. The fact is, you couldn't hear the reason over the whiny tone of it all. Good points, poor delivery. Overall, a big swing and a miss trying to get the point across.
