My clan 'Death Squad' just beat Crota with two 31's and four 30's. Video here.

Guide:
The sword holder was a level 31 bladedancer hunter with the stalker, shadowjack and higher jump perks. This is the only requirement apart from the rest of the team being level 30+.
Once we kill the first mobs near the crystal the bladedancer went down to grab the chalice of light whilst one went infront of the main window you start behind with an icebreaker to take out the knights that spawn at the top of the two towers on either side of Crota. The other four went down to the middle as you can see in my POV in the video.
Once the sword bearer spawned the four at the bottom took him out and the bladedancer took the sword. The bladedancer then went to the left side of Crota were there is a rock you can jump on to reach Crota. In the corner of the rock is a crack he crouched in to get invisibility. Once invisible the bladedancer jumped up to Crota and instructed us to take his shields down. Two gjallahorn rounds and a few bullets takes this down easily.
Once down the bladedancer is already right next to him and he used the strong attack (R2 / RT) FOUR TIMES (OR 3 AND A SUPER). He then immediately jumped back to the bottom middle to regroup with the four others.
When Crota runs to either side, all players excluding the knight killer regroups at bottom mid. The knight killer goes to the oppsite side and hides behind the doors so he can still pick off knights. The sword bearer will then spawn, so wait for Crota to run back to middle. Then have the knight killer return to his position and repeat previous steps to damage Crota.
As you can see in the video I occasionaly jumped up to see the door beneath Crota as this is where the sword bearer spawns. If it doesn't open then two ogres will come. If this happens everyone go to bottom middle and use snipers to kill the ogres. Once done have knight killer return to his position. Eventually another sword bearer will come.
Crucial tip:
If possible have the four use their super on the stairs outside the bottom mid on thrall to generate orbs. This will allow the bladedancer to get his super whilst holding the sword which causes much more damage on Crota.

Edited by PmL StrykeR: 12/15/2014 3:31:11 PMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unKR5HXcjVM Above is a link to our crota fight an how we took it down! 1. We had 1 guy stay up top to take down the knights in the windows. 2. Level 31 get the sword and chalice to smash on crota (WE ONLY NEEDED ONE 31, WHICH WAS THE GUY TO HOLD SWORD) and the rest of us were down below putting pure DPS on crota and the Swordbearer when need be! DPS crew was made up of gjlahorns and ice breakers smashing his shields down allowing us to knock him down twice per swordbearer. 3. We also kept dropping orbs for the sword carrier so he could smash crota with his super to get extra dps! Tell me how you took down crota and what you got! We could've EASILY killed crota before the second set of ogres if we had flawless runs each downing of crota! either way I am amped we beat him and I got this beauty!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaJJvHpxN6s and my bro got https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE9bmgN_RB0

I had the same idea with the hunter. Just getting my one friend to listen though -_-

We used a different tactic. And the sniper don't need to take out all the nights, just the 2 nearest to the team and have the other 2 nights at half health because they don't shoot and will respawn with full health if killed. The ogres spawn on the second round and that's when everyone should go to the bottom room all the way to the back. Snipers to the back and guys with rockets to the front. Weapons of light is a bonus. When the ogres are down return to the room opposite of where crota is standing and clear the mob of thrawls and nights quickly. Then rinse and repeat. Have a look at my gameplay video. I was the main sniper.

Edit: I had no idea that door was open even after the boss fight started.

Really great tactic. Cheers to that
But you should really reconsider the name of your clan. It might sound formidable but your associating your clan with some really bad stuff.
-
I beat players in Pvp, Wrecked teh vault of glass, but Crota is just so hard especially when your just level 30 agh
-
This is obviously a bug and will be addressed immediately.
-
Yeah we beat it yesterday finally. Took a while but it really wasn't that hard once we got the timing and strategy down.
-
I was in the top ten team, that beat it blind :)

Edited by lITHEOPIl: 12/11/2014 9:57:46 PMCrota's End Patch Notes 1.7.5 ( yes the one about you beating our raid, again!) - Crota kneeling was not how we intended him to kneel, nerfed. ( now kneels for 0.023 sec from 5.0 sec ) - Standing on the ledge in the middle to sniper the towers is not how we intended you to play, nerfed. (will now spawn witches if you try to stand there) - Being able to go back into the tunnel under spawn point was a coding error (doorMonkey), the door will now close. Sorry about that!
