I'm going to echo the opening sentiments, though not as extreme since, in truth, reading the updates/info about the forthcoming DLC has wiped any excitement I had for it.
I, too, would like to know why a weapon, we've spent weeks upgrading, has to be reset at all. It makes absolutely no sense.
As a programmer, this tells me the that an upgraded weapon isn't an upgrade at all, but a completely new weapon, which means we might as well just have waited for it to drop in the RNG setting. It would have been just as effective.
I'm sorry, but based on this information, I will not be upgrading any of my exotic weapons, because that's just a waste of time, especially when the entire idea is to bring our best weapons to the DLC.
The other piece of news I'm not happy with is the new "commendation" level of "currency", as if glimmer and VG marks are now pretty much useless.
Here's my idea for a better way to upgrade weapons:
-Allow us to purchase, in increments of 10, the stats of the weapon. At 100 VG marks + 10k glimmer, boost Range, Impact, Reload, etc.
-Allow us to purchase elemental damage for 200 VG marks + 20k glimmer. This one is extremely important because this way, we can take a favorite exotic and have 3 copies, each with its own elemental damage, instead of wasting it for a freaking and unnecessary shard. Who came up with the idea to use this shard design?
I'm tired of having 25k/200 VG marks with nothing to buy, upgrade, or find a use for. Heck, I can't even seem to get rid of it faster than it accumulates.
I purchased nearly every weapon from the VG that I wanted, and I still have currency left over.
Alas, it seems Bungie's entire intent is to spread the wealth over 3 characters, but here's a news flash: not everyone playing this game wants to manage 3 characters, swap weapons, and hope that they can all be leveled up the same.
The extraordinary amount of time doing this is, simply put, wasteful.
I couldn't care less about having the greatest weapon or the highest level. I just want to enjoy the game. My personal favorite was trying to get my VG rating as high as possible, then decided I'd rather change the design of my character, starting from scratch. Now, she's level 5 VG and I get the feeling this new commendation is about to bite me. I know, I probably shouldn't have deleted my character, but this is what I get for trusting that "ability to upgrade weapons" as promised by Bungie came with not a string, but a chain attached.
Honestly, I don't know how much longer I can endure chasing carrots or running this hamster wheel, but trust me when I say the breaking moment is so close, I doubt even a DLC (which lasts what... until April I think) can tide me over.
This game has the potential of doing something great, but with the latest update and the news on how we're to "upgrade", it seems the game just took 20 steps backward.
I don't mind if there are players out there who want to do nothing but grab the latest gear and weapons as fast as they can, then spend the rest of the time complaining how boring the game is.
But for those of us who were playing the game as Bungie "intended", I felt the slap in the face was so hard, it actually knocked some common sense into me about what I'm doing with the game.
So here's what I'd like an honest answer to, Bungie: HOW ARE WE INTENDED TO PLAY THIS GAME WHEN THE RULES CONSTANTLY KEEP SHIFTING?
I'd like an answer by Saturday, please.
PS: People cheezing Atheon, and having it patched to make the Raid one of the worst experiences I had in the game was marginally forgivable since developers forget the basic rule: if it can be exploited, it will be exploited.
But cheezing the Templar was for one major reason only: to get the extra chest to help increase the chance of a better drop. Sure, there's the option of keeping the Templar from teleporting, but how many people play Titans in this game? Surely no where near the level of Warlocks and Hunters.
If the developers are going to put easter eggs like this in the game, don't screw it up when people beat it at its own game.

Commendations are quite possibly the stupidest idea yet. Not counting the elimination of exotic materials to upgrade exotics after we all spent hundreds of shards/energy upgrading our guns and gear.
-
I'd like to dive head first into the DLC, but I suspect I'll be spending the first week or so readying for the new Iron Banner by re-levelling my old Exotics. Not what I had in mind when I purchased the DLC... :/

zzz zzz zzzzzz Oh wait what (hulk wipes drool from mouth) ... sorry fell asleep with all the useless walls of rambling text. Did you people fall asleep on your phones while posting and just faceroll the whole damn posts ?

You are so lucky to have max currency :0

Bump. This game is obviously still hip deep in development and nowhere near ready to go live.

I'd like an answer too. Think about it. If we all ask can they really ignore us? If we all pledge a simultaneous day off of the game, will we be seen then as invested gamers, or forgotten as the reason for their very incorporation as OUR COLLECTIVE WASTED TIME AND PROGRESS can be very simply addressed with honesty. Gamers are people. Devs are people. Let's work for each other again. A good game is promoted by people, while every person looking for a review of the game can see this one treats it's players for awhile and makes them barf it back up to 'enjoy' again. How kind. It was ok the first time through and the material availability updates actually were nice, but I simply don't understand why there is absolutely no return from the investment made in exotic upgrades.

I agree. With everything you said. I'll be taking a break from this game and only popping in on a few Tuesdays to get some coins after next week. Also a big agreement about Atheon and Templer. That has really torqued me that Bungie never comments on ALL the raids bugs AND how many more happened after Atheon patch. And that fact that Templer and the chest are connected and now that chest is much harder to acquire ....kinda messed up. They could have fixed the Templer but added something so the chest appears if no one died during Templer or if the Templer is killed in under 5 minutes or maybe after Templer dies chest is active for 1 minute so it's important to get there fast...whatever they could have added some mechanic. But they ignored it because too many people were getting too much materials, shards and exotics too quickly. It's all about slowing and dragging out player progression for added daily numbers of players in the hamster wheel.

That's your opinion. Stop bashing on others opinion. If it upsets you that much go make a thread about it
