While most of the frustration leveled at Bungie and Destiny is legitimate, what you're describing is basically just every MMO ever. Welcome to the Skinner box, enjoy your stay.

 • I think the main part missing from the mmo argument is that you level your character rather then gear. Destiny ties level and gear together, to compare to W.O.W. you need to think of an expansion raising the level cap by ten but removing five of your levels to access them.

 • That is funny - I have played many MMO's where my characters are designed based on my play style, and I can customize my armor, and even level it, sock it, enchant it, etc, to improve my character. And in those same MMO's there was an actual in-game economy, and a trade system, and a massive number of people playing... Yet, with Destiny we barely have an in-game economy - rather a few different forms of currency thrown in and being relevant once a week, if ever... And Destiny does not allow trading, so my bud's 3rd VoC, that he doesn't need, is either broken down or thrown in the vault to take up space instead of being used to acquire something that RNGesus has failed to give him, but not me... And 16 people at a time on any given planet - really? Your servers could not handle more than that? Face it - this is not an MMO. Expecting to hold it to the same standards, and thus passing off frustrations as "Well, WoW does it" is not the direction to take here.

 • Destiny is an MMO. It simply is, by definition. That being said, don't for a second think I'm comparing its level of content to any other MMO. I'm not. At all. Destiny's content is absolutely pathetic on every level - PvP, PvE, market, social, literally everything.

 • Lol by definition destiny is NOT an mmo. Mmo means 'massively multiplayer online' So those 3 or 6 fireteams are really massive eh? Use your head, just cause the game borrows from aspects of mmo's, does not mean it's an mmo. It's an RPGFPS One more time to be clear There is NOTHING massively multiplayer about this game. He'll even battlefield and halo let you play with more people. I swear these dumbasses don't even know what the acronym means.

 • But even the Bungie devs have said, many times, that is is not an MMO. And the definition doesn't even fit, considering you lose on the first word: MASSIVE. By definition, it is not massive, but limited - 16 people per planet is not "massive".

 • Finally someone who understands what the acronym means. It's actually sad how many people consider this massively multiplayer online. It's so far from massively multiplayer my brain can't even comprehend how these idiots categorize it as such.
