Same here. Firts gold event each day gives a mote right away, and the couple of others might give ascendants. But there must be a limit on that as I always get a couple at the beginning of the week and none after completing a few. Liked the previous (postmaster and random reward) version more, you got enough mote anyways with XP progress.
