Elitist players don't just want to win...they want others to Lose

Putting it more simply, Destiny is like a race to the raid to hit the rng jackpot and I think that is absolutely bizzare for a game design. They do it for the Elitists tho. It's the way developers get the most play out of the most driven. The rest of us who wanted Destiny to be cooler than the local lottery machine at a 7/11 lost. We expected this great story and world to unravel, but we get a stupid pve contest that's all about how much you're willing to come back and play every week. They dumbed down this game to show that people who don't get on lfg guilds like total morons wading in a flood don't deserve shit. Well that's it, there's no content, just bullshit so certain weirdos can be a "level 30" and somehow this is just as good as having an actual game design. Even if you do raid, it's more of a cheesy game than an adventure. They don't even want casuals to have matchmaking even though they'd never have to use it. This game is nothing but CoD with the worst nerd bullshit from WoW. This game is only designed to serve the most basic and crude impulses of the most neckbearded of gamers. They design an rng that's rigged against their favor, so that when someone wins, they get to be a snowflake for a while and everyone else gets driven to be level 30 like rats on a hamster-wheel treading Destinylfg.com flood waters. Those of us that are actually good at pvp and pve are in the "idgaf" club. We know that everyone, even the best, wins and loses. We want things like content and story. We enjoy the escape.

 • I definitely agree with your last remark; I play because I want an escape. After a really stressful day at work whatever frustrations and worries going to the gym doesn't get rid of I like to play videogames for a while. And I have met some really cool people, and had lots of fun doing raids and strikes with them. And I suppose part of this is my fault for not knowing what I was getting in to, but a lot of the game just feels like work. It gets hard at times to get the motivation to do the same thing over and over again for the chance of getting the item you're hoping for. I can go to the gym and push myself through lots of things, I don't call off work even though I know it will be a crappy day, I (kind of) listen to my girlfriend complain about drama only women care about, but there are tangible rewards to all those things. Lately I don't feel that way about this game, getting duplicates (or even more) of stuff you already have is a big let down. And I get it's supposed to be random, but at the same time is it too much to ask that once you've got something it gets removed from the list of possible items, or it's percentage is reduced? This is my first experience with an rng system and I'm not a huge fan. But I can say destiny has taught me I probably need to stay out of the casinos or risk ending up in foreclosure.
