#Offtopic as a Social Network

No long-winded introductions here. I got some data, played with it a bit, and now I have some pretty pictures. You can check the related topic for more info. Here is the interactive version of the graph. It is very large and will run very slowly (probably not at all on a mobile device). Details: - There are 9,228 nodes/users in the graph - There are 14,966 edges/follows - Click below for confusing math details
*keep in mind that I only looked at the users in the previous topic and got a list of their followers who were also in the graph; I didn't look at the followers of the followers - Average degree: 1.622 - Network diameter: 11 - Average path length: 4.474
- The graph is organised in a few ways: 1) sub-communities (modularity class), which is indicated by the colours. Groups of users with the same colour were identified as belonging to an individual sub-community. 2) how central to the network of users an individual user is according to Eigenvector centrality (read here for layman's terms) which is indicated by how large a node (a user) is. The larger, the more central to the network. 3) The edges (the lines you can see) which connect a user to another user is done according to who follows who. Now for some more interesting stats: Top 10 most central users (according to Betweenness Centrality)
Jun A266 III 207629.9777993628 Vien Quitonmee 205092.83032570817 CamCamm 152171.58541343795 randomraaawr 131606.30872542123 plasma eagle 130849.5502676724 FatherlyNick 123353.51050042499 El Burninator 121551.37220803613 burritosenior 116481.76570981082 o_____________o 108220.6863854502 Officer Nasty16 106337.3637434932
*the number is a ranking of how central the user is Top 10 most followed users
Mark IV Mjolnir 554 burritosenior 481 o_____________o 423 Vien Quitonmee 368 CamCamm 308 Cortana 5 297 bobcast 249 DE4THINC4RN4TE 232 Space Whale 218 Six of all 6s 200
Top 10 users according to PageRank
Mark IV Mjolnir 0.03521093586916116 CamCamm 0.0285201481663673 Vien Quitonmee 0.023247178738076187 Cortana 5 0.020476081092806405 burritosenior 0.019783530443378997 dazarobbo 0.019583703643605222 bobcast 0.019477472813405963 Tartan 118 0.019306169783243964 Achilles1108 0.01624050365498115 Officer Nasty16 0.015160473684842033
• So do sub communities get based off of a higher than average amount of follows between a group of people? Because the only person I see in that picture with the same color is my buddy Progo.

      •
It's a seperation of sub-communities. Basically, each color indicated a correllation between users. Users of the same color have more matching followers and followings than people of different colors. It isn't that you're part of seperate communities, but more that all cyan dots have more mutual friends than a cyan and a red dot, etc.
At least, this is my understanding of it.
