I was playing the Vault of Glass with some people, and I realized they were Iron Banner 30s. I didn't mention it, but then we got to the gatekeepers. 3 People died every time on the first portal outside. After a few times, I asked them how that was possible, and one instantly started hating on me. He called me a squeaker because I am 13 and haven't hit puberty. We were doing perfect in the raid and we were all laughing at some point. I told him to shut up and he told me,"Sorry, I can't play with someone as young and bad as you." And he booted me. I mean WTF?? We went through it as a team and he ended it there. Why is the community so rude?
Edit 1: We were playing NORMAL with five 30s and one 29, the 29 with me and another 30 in the portal.
Edit 2: Okay, I deleted "fake" because that isn't true, you are correct. They just got 30 a different way than me and have less experience with the raid.
Edit 3: These responses are overwhelming! Was gonna reply and give my thoughts to all of them, but there is no way I can now!

Having played MANY games with my brother who's 9years younger I don't have a problem playing with those younger than me. On the condition that they aren't overly annoying, which I'll let you know when it starts to get on my nerves. I don't bitch when it happens I just get quieter than normal and give short responses.

If any of them had any skill they coulda got the first portal and relic by themselves? I do it all the time with my Defender. I onno, don't play with assholes dude. You don't need them, I've ran the VOG with my 8 year old, my crew and a random. From my experience the kids are the real killers. You on PS4?
-
Me and my clan always talk shit to each other lol but we get er done
-
I would raid with you. I don't care about age as long as you know what you are doing.
-
Thank your peers and some people are just a-holes. I wouldnt wanted to have helped a group like that beat it anyways. Youll find a better group.
-
That would never happen at a NAMBLA convention.
-
Weird, your raid history shows no indication that you have ever raided with a team made up of those levels. Is this a fictional story?
-
Lol I'm 13 and I've taken adults through the raid and shown them what too do... But I've never been kicked and usually they end up adding me as a friend after.
-
Start a clan for teenage gamers.

Hey d*ck-face, get on with your period already!
jk
Being a father I don't play with anyone under the age of 18 for one major reason. Some of the things that come out of my mouth during a session are often not kid appropriate. I for one do not allow my son to play in a party with adults unless one of those adults is me. I have played games with my son and his friends he knows in real life simply because I know the parents and know the topic boundaries. I refuse to adhere to that with kids I don't know sorry no can do. I don't dislike kids nor do I feel ill towards them. It's simply a parent thing end of story. When I start a raid group I always preface it with you must be 18+ for the sole reason explained above. It's not to hate or be mean just a personal preference. I agree with others find players your age and you will have far more fun that playing with adults anyways.
-
What system? Forget the haters. Let's raid.
-
I play with people of all ages as long as they are respectful and willing to listen. Regardless of age I kick those that won't play well together. A guy I regularly play invited me to help with a raid last night and this annoying disrespectful little shit was dropping the n word and talking down on everyone. I didn't stay in there long. Just respect others like real life!

My -blam!- use your deep voice

Sorry dude. Ageism is real. I'm sure you're a good player but just honestly speaking unless you are my kid I don't want to run with a 13 year old either. You'll understand when your an adult. Nothing wrong with you personally just an age gap thing.

Edited by Undefined: 11/25/2014 8:10:07 PM
3 People died every time on the first portal outside. I was asking them how that was possible, and one instantly started hating on me.
Okay, this is already a difficult thing to get across on a group that is struggling with something for whatever reason...but if you said it in the way I think you did (we have a young one in the clan who isn't the best with words, he means well but sometimes me and a couple of other "elders" really wish to tell him to piss off), I completely understand why they'd kick you. Especially if you were more or less a PuG to them. Just choose your words wisely and try to correct/guide people constructively; don't go asking "how is this possible", just those three words have the potential to open up a negative attitude on an already frustrating road, normal vog or not. I have a feeling if we heard from him he'd be sharing a different story.
-
We usually kick everyone under 18, unless it's a mature guy / girl. It's simply a matter of communication and, well...you'll know when you grow up. Until then, you can always squad up with people who share your same interests: it will be funnier for you and for them.
-
The problem is 3 people in the portal. If you can't solo portals you shouldn't be in there.
-
I don't hate on young people in-game. But I do prefer to game with similar people, similar ages, similar situations in life. It's a lot easier to explain to other dads that I have to drop the controller in the middle of the raid because my kid woke up crying or I need to feed him etc.
-
Age doesn't matter to most. If your experienced with your class there shouldn't be much of a problem. Some people can be pretty rude. Don't sweat the small stuff, swallow your pride and move on.

Edited by Never Summer C0: 11/25/2014 8:24:05 PMHey hey hey! He was playing normal, this thread has 0 use lol.
-
Hey kid, sorry that happened but why don't you play with kids your age? I know in my group, the language and topics of discussion are NOT for kids, so we would probably boot you too. Sorry, bud, we play this game to relax and have fun, often after our kids have gone to bed. It's adult time, which you'll understand one day.
-
I don't play with prepubescents either. The vast majority of squeekers lack actual skill and cry too much in their squeeky voice. It's not about hatred, it's about adults being annoyed and wanting to play with other adults.
-
I'm also 13 years old but I've never been kicked for my age
-
Saturday I played the raid with new people and one was a little kid but he was #1 in kills and all around more experienced than most of us. We all had no problem with a kid. Just find a good group of people and have fun.

Further research has indicated that this story is completely fictional. There is no raid history that details the levels you have described. Not even remotely close.
