At first I didn't really care, Dark Souls 2 was good for its multiplayer but with Bloodborne coming out I don't feel obligated to get it on PS4; I would definitely get Dark Sous again though. I still don't care to buy this, but there was 2 frames that seemed like new content, but the title "Scholar of the First Sin" is much more interesting. Wonder what it means.

  • Ya I can imagine people not wanting to buy it again and I don't blame them if they are not interested in a Re-release. I thought I noticed something different in the trailer but couldn't see what was different at a glance. It is a interesting title to add on to it. Maybe they will announce more at the Playstation event in December and what that title means.

  • In willing to bet that it is a throwback to a character from the first dark souls. "Scholar of the first sin" Velka goddess of sin from dark souls was a character we hardly knew anything about.

  • Interesting it very well could be! Guess we will have to wait and see!

  • The title is strange because the idea of sin doesn't exist in Dark Souls, really. Obviously there is good and bad but I don't remember any moment where the word sin is mentioned, and it certainly doesn't seem super relevant in Dark Souls 2.

  • Also there was sin in dark souls 2. Each time you killed an npc or invaded another players world and killed them you would gain one point of sin. When you reached 10 points of sin the players who joined the covenant of the blue sentinels could invade you.

  • Except that was hardly relevant to the story, it only existed for PVP covenants/ items. It definitely isn't relevant enough to be the reasoning for the title.

  • Oh yeah there is also the sinners rise and the lost sinner. This could have something to do with the lost sinner and possible what her sin was. But because it says "scholar of the first sin" that indicates the origin of sin and that would ideally be with velka because she is the goddess of sin.

  • Which is still confusing because Velka is barely even in the game. Really the only part of the story that is incredibly relevant and was not done in the first game is the Kings crowns, I don't think those would be a sin though. Nothing else really is as relevant and specific to Dark Souls 2.

  • Like I said in that last post, the sinners rise and the lost sinner are relevant but since it's titled "Scholar of the first sin" I just have a feeling it has something to do with velka. You would think the goddess of sin would have something to do with the first sin.

  • You also have the Lost Sinner whose sin was trying to relight the First Flame.

  • But she wasn't particularly relevant to the story either, just an obstacle. Not to mention if that is considered a sin then the Witch of Izalith committed the first sin. Still doesn't make sense for the title of this game, unless they add something or I'm missing something.

  • Id imagine it was considered a sin later because when the witch of Izalith attempted to relight the Flame she turned into the bed of choas and birthed demons into the world. Also the Lost Sinner possess the witch of Izalith's soul and it seems to be manipulating her to commit the first sin.

  • It was still in the game. Besides both the blue sentinels and the covenant of blood are what became of the original covenants from dark souls that let you invade sinners and invade in general. Oswald the pardoner had a big role in those covenants and if I remember correctly there was a character in dark souls 2 with the same purpose and even the same clothing as Oswald. Just because it was mainly pvp aspects of the game doesn't mean anything. It's still in game and this new content is most likely going to expand on these covenants and give the backing story to the two most popular covenants in dark souls 2. We won't have to speculate anymore. "Scholar of the first sin" I'm willing to bet that this will have something to do with velka which will ultimately lead to where we are now in dark souls 2.

  • Ya I was thinking the same thing as I also don't remember it mentioning anything about sin but it's been a while since I've played DS 2 and its DLC so I could be wrong. Maybe the events and story of DS 2 is the first sin and "sin" will be a focus in a sequel but that's really just a shot in the dark really.
