People would lose on purpose so they could farm the area for engrams glimmer and xp. Great idea though I would love to see something similar added. Mass effect 3 did something similar, they gave the entire community an objective such as kill a million boss characters in a week to receive a special community prize. The first time we failed they posted a message "due to the failure to contain the outbreak of ____ they now appear in greater numbers" it was so surprising to see the game changed on the fly like that it was another level of immersion I haven't seen before. It was especially awesome because a few times they were boss enemies that didn't normally occupy a certain level.

Have a fireteam leader able to boot farmers. It is an event, not a farming opportunity. Go grind on patrol like everyone else or better yet the ROC.

Perhaps the side effect if the zone were "lost" would not be to have more enemies, or even higher difficulty enemies, but less chest spawns or some other negative effect? Finding the right balance would be key, but this IS a phenomenal idea over all.
