I'm white and agree with the author white people can't say this word. And a word is not just a word: Black people used to be hung by a tree with angry white folks screaming this word. If you understand history you know why white people can't say it. If you do say it you should make an effort to stop. Just like me I say "fag" sometimes when I get mad in the crucible. It doesn't mean gay to me at all .. but it's offensive and I'm trying to stop and will.

If you knew history yourself, you would know that people of African descent were sold by their own tribes. They were slaves long before they made it to American. I'm not saying it's right to use the word however, it's not just white people who shouldn't be saying it, it's people of all races, including African Americans. There is not a single person alive today that committed any of those acts, it's time to move on from it and build a better future rather than using the past as a crutch that none of us were even there for. And as for being hanged, lots of people were hanged. Woman suspected of being witches, people accused of crimes, someone who pissed off a person of power and yes African Americans, atrocities have happened to every gender, race and culture.

Where did I say it was right or okay? The point is the idea did not originate with American. It wasn't just 'some evil Africans' it was the norm for their society. White people didn't go hunt down Africans and throw them on a boat, they bought them at slave auctions from their own people. It has nothing to do with having a heart, I want our society to come together as ONE population, regardless of race or gender to build a better future and we can't do that with people like you holding onto the past and making excuses for entire races of people based on it. You're the one that should be ashamed of yourself, not me. I want a unified future without all this bullshit, one where people aren't constantly slinging mud back and forth saying 'oh you did this!' and them saying 'oh but you did THIS', people like you want to hold onto it and say 'Oh you white people should be so ashamed, look what some white people did a long time ago!' and that's exactly what keeps the cycle going. People of all races need to step up and say this is wrong and we will not be held down by the past ANY LONGER. Unfortunately until that happens the cycle of blame and hate will continue.
