I'm excited about [b]WIELDING[/b] the sword, relic style.
I'm looking for him to have some kind of green shield that can only be broken by a super from a special hive sword.

It was said in the trailer that "only a true weapon of the light" will defeat him. With the raid crafting item discovered in the DB, the speculation is that you must possess the Mythoclast to defeat him. But honestly no one knows.

The only way to kill him is with a rng drop. I seriously doubt it.

Did you read what I wrote? There is a Raid Crafting Item. You'll most likely be able to build it if you were not lucky. But again, this is all speculation. Maybe you need to build something else. Maybe it only applies to things that drop in the Crota raid. Maybe you have to piece together a new sword. I don't know.
