You don't know how this game works. It's about teamwork and scoring points and securing those objectives. That's how you win. You can get 10 kills and 0 deaths, or 20 kills and 4 deaths, but if your team doesn't work toward that objective then you will lose every single match.
Destiny is a game about points, not k/d.
The guy with 10 kills who takes over zones can score more points than you with 17 kills. Learn to play kids.
Remember children: "A player with 5000 points and a k/d of 0.7 is more valuable to the team than one with 2300 points and a k/d of 4"

Are you stupid? The crucible is 80% all about K/D. Capturing points is a pittance in comparison to being able to kill and not be killed.
-
The real metric that matters is points gained minus points given. So yes k/d matters a lot, but it's not the only thing that matters.
-
It's both so I've learnt
-
I will still continue to judge on KD because if it's bad you are not winning your gunfights and are therefore not useful at all to my team. Congrats, you can cap a flag when no one is looking.
-
Also a kid with 5000 points will not be .7
-
Kk back pedal, destinys PVP is so bad that K/D does not matter. Gotta take kd from battlefield or halo
-
When it comes down to it its based on k/d and just out slaying I've won games with my team well being trip capped the whole game. We do it just to embarrass kids
-
Not to mention those people that actually let others PLAY on their profile. People that care about k/d overall need a life. Everyone knows the people I'm talking about unless you are one.
-
What is combat rating? Is that based off of win/loss ratio?

Edited by Rokon: 11/21/2014 3:26:34 PMThis is why I love Team Fortress 2, and will always use it in an argument whenever possible. TF2 doesn't show KD, and thus, stupid ass egos don't need to inflate all over the damn place.
-
A team with crap k/d or more deaths than kills you're bound to lose :p Sadly my performance have been lacking lately
-
Ehhhh k/d gives you a good idea of the quality of the player. People with .3 k/d are always at the bottom of the scoreboard. They're not helping the team
-
There are other game modes, and they rely solely on k/d. Not everyone plays control.
-
My k/d is like 1, my last matches were above 2(or something like that). My consistency is zero.
-
This I agree with. I get between 3000 and 4000 points most matches and my K/D ratio is under 1.
-
if you lose more fights than you win you're not even a team mate for a large chunk of the match. you're a spectator.
-
I love how everyone is complaining about this. Your k/d says a part but not necessarily a large one sometimes. I have under a 1.0 k/d most of the time yet I still find my self ranging from 2k to 6k points. I'll take a lower k/d if they can get the job done
-
K/D implies a lot, though. A player with a kd over 1.9 on average will take a shit on another guy that averages .68, and chances are that the better PvP player will also be better with PvE performance. Really annoyed at the fact that IB doesn't update the K/D
-
lol a player with a negative KD is always bad. It meant that you gave more kills to the other team than you have killed the other team which also means you gave them more points than you've gained. The higher the KD, the better the team benefits. You can have a team that capture 0 zones and win on high KD alone. Let's be honest, KD matters.
-
How can anyone get 5000 points have a .7 kd for the match...i got a 5.4 and that only got me 9000 >.>
-
Actually, any player with a k/d under 1 is holding back the team. If you have 5000 pts but a .7 k/d, you've given the other team more points than what you've gotten your own team. I would prefer a 4 k/d player anyday, because they aren't boosting the enemy teams score with all their deaths

Value of worth per round for an individual player. This does not include helping the team (ie: defending, shields, orb creating, etc.) ... [Kills (100) + Assist points (50) + Captures (100)] - deaths (150 for sake of argument) If I got 17 kills, 5 assists, 6 deaths and captured 2 points my value to the team would be 1250 points. If I got 10 Kills, 2 assists, 8 deaths, and captured 6 points my value to the team would be 500 points This of course is only counting numbers and not real contribution to the team. ... My losing game reports look like this Player name... Kills, K/D, Captures Me... 25, 2.5,3 player 1... 12, 0.88, 5 player 2... 10, 0.65, 3 player 3... 15, 0.5, 2 and so on

Edited by tsoumbas: 11/21/2014 11:33:50 AMlets all play control and nobody grab any zone. this could be very fun. its a team guys. Some go for the kills and some defend objectives. it is called team play. campers have its usefulness as much as zone runners. everyone above 10 kills in control is considered to have a decent game and contributed to the teams win. only very few games i saw my teammates to have more than 10 kills and some near 20 and end up loosing the game. ...and before arguing my point check my stats and crucible marks.... average player who plays for the objectives all the time. As for those that brag about their high k/d ratio go into rumble (solo) for a week and then come back to brag some more to your weak teammates :)
-
No, because, 1, a guy with a kd of .7 won't have 5000 points, if he does then he gave te other team 6000. He also spent too much time dead and running from spawn to be very useful. No one ever got 5000 points from capping zones and getting assists. (That would be 100 assists worth of points. Your kd says a lot about what you contributed to the other teams win.
-
So you're saying kills is not needed in this game?take a look at this i got 0 captures but i got the most points in the game and all the player have 0 ratio is below me.. so you're topic is pointless all of you who have 0 ratio are just feeding the team.. thats my point here so k/d is really the thing here in this game..
-
I don't care about k/d but I've never seen anyone with a low k/d and high points. I have however seen a lot of idiots that think it's a death match and constantly run into a room thinking they can kill three people at once.
