By now, the majority of us could do the Vault of Glass blindfolded. We may not have found everything it has to offer (or maybe we have, who knows), but we can open the gate, push the Templar off, get past the Gorgons, destroy Atheon, and get our Chatterwhites in the matter of an hour. We have the whole process down to a science, and that's part of the beauty of the Destiny community, sharing countless tips from other players' experiences to make ours a little easier.
However, if you're like me, you missed one important part of Destiny's very first Raid, and that's the sense of discovery. When I did the VOG for the first time, I joined up with a mixed Fireteam of friends and strangers, some of whom had already completed it and knew what to do. While this certainly made the process easier, it slimmed the experience down to less of a cooperative figure-it-out to more of a do-what-you're-told-and-nothing-more. So while I was happy to get my first (and so far, only) exotic weapon drop, I felt like I missed out on an opportunity to experience something amazing - a team working together to figure out how to survive seemingly impossible odds. No help, no instructions, just six people getting by through sheer force of will.
I'll never be able to have the true Vault of Glass experience, but my goal is to not make the same mistake with Crota's End. I don't want to be told what to do, but rather have equal input as everyone else and learn how to eliminate the threat of Crota one step at a time.
Does anyone else feel the same way? Or am I crazy, wanting to go through the frustration of hundreds of deaths where I could let someone else figure it out and reap the rewards of their efforts? I'm curious what your thoughts are.
Edit: Seems like there are a lot of you who feel the same way, which is awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your stories, and if any of you are on 360 and want to have a fireteam ready for Crota's End, feel free to hit me up. Gamertag is Bastinian.
Edit 2: Now on Xbox One! Feel free to message me on the One if interested in doing the next Raid blind.

Feel the exact same. I wanna go in blind. No guide or YouTube videos
-
I'm trying to put together a team to push the new raid add me on ps4
-
I agree with you but at the same time I don't want to spend 5+ hours in a raid trying to figure things out in frustration. I rather do what the DLC has to offer and get a head start in that and then try the raid once it's figured out.
-
i cant do the VoG blindfolded, how do you do it?
-
I agree 100%! While it was nice to have some guidance as two of my friends and myself at level 26/27 ran through the VoG with a few level 30 players that had the raid mastered just to show us what it was all about, that sense of discovery as you put it was never really there. We were told what was going to happen and what we needed to do and after a few hours we got it down and some of us got awesome rewards. Now I have a clan consisting of myself and five other members(5 level 30's and 1 level 29 thanks to the random drop bogus system of bungie) and we already agreed that we were gonna run in blind on Crota's End and figure it out ourselves.

Anyone would like to watch would be appreciated. It's very scarce and brief. Nerves killed me and got the better but I uploaded anyways everyone starts somewhere. So yeah thanks! Peace out.

I've never understood people who just wait for others and then repeat what they did to succeed. It's a game, not real life. The fun of something new is discovery. It isn't just technical ability, it's also all new encounters, new things to see, new twists, 'puzzles' etc. If you let someone else spoil it all for you... I don't know why you would pay $20 I guess.
-
At three am central time zone, after download lol, my team and I will take the plunge and enjoy every minute of discovering the dark below. I expect to spend five hours in at least. Exploring will take time. But if you don't go in Tuesday morning I do suggest the first time in to go with all new people.

TL;DR got the gist from what I did read. That's why I'm doing the Crota Run with my amazing raid team the day it comes out.
-
I always tell people they missed out on how difficult the raid was when it first came out. Its one of the most challenging experiences I've had on console gaming.
