Crota's End First Run

By now, the majority of us could do the Vault of Glass blindfolded. We may not have found everything it has to offer (or maybe we have, who knows), but we can open the gate, push the Templar off, get past the Gorgons, destroy Atheon, and get our Chatterwhites in the matter of an hour. We have the whole process down to a science, and that's part of the beauty of the Destiny community, sharing countless tips from other players' experiences to make ours a little easier. However, if you're like me, you missed one important part of Destiny's very first Raid, and that's the sense of discovery. When I did the VOG for the first time, I joined up with a mixed Fireteam of friends and strangers, some of whom had already completed it and knew what to do. While this certainly made the process easier, it slimmed the experience down to less of a cooperative figure-it-out to more of a do-what-you're-told-and-nothing-more. So while I was happy to get my first (and so far, only) exotic weapon drop, I felt like I missed out on an opportunity to experience something amazing - a team working together to figure out how to survive seemingly impossible odds. No help, no instructions, just six people getting by through sheer force of will. I'll never be able to have the true Vault of Glass experience, but my goal is to not make the same mistake with Crota's End. I don't want to be told what to do, but rather have equal input as everyone else and learn how to eliminate the threat of Crota one step at a time. Does anyone else feel the same way? Or am I crazy, wanting to go through the frustration of hundreds of deaths where I could let someone else figure it out and reap the rewards of their efforts? I'm curious what your thoughts are. Edit: Seems like there are a lot of you who feel the same way, which is awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your stories, and if any of you are on 360 and want to have a fireteam ready for Crota's End, feel free to hit me up. Gamertag is Bastinian. Edit 2: Now on Xbox One! Feel free to message me on the One if interested in doing the next Raid blind.

  • I played with a team of all new players my first time. We had only one guy who made it to the Templar but thats it. He had us convinced that we had to get marked buy the green crap and run it into the middle to advance. We managed to get past the cons but that was it

    • I feel the same way. That's why my clan would like to go for world first on Crota's End

    • I gotta funny feeling the first run through on the raid is going to be a lag fest as per all the people jumping on at a single time... plus I feel like bungie might be trying to get back at players for beating the raid with such ease that some parts of the new raid will be ridiculously hard for no good reason .

    • Yes. So much yes. There'd be thousands like you, me included, and I really hope I get to have the 'full raid experience' with the new DLC.

I was fortunate enough to run through the VOG blind the first time. It was an awesome experience. I am totally committed to doing the same thing with the new raid. Going through the first time with no knowledge about what was in store for us is easily one of the best co-op experiences I have ever had. Can't wait for the next one. You can only imagine the confusion with the Templar when everything seemed to be going fine and then all of a sudden our whole team would wipe. Lol good times. Probably spent 4-5 hours in that room the first time

        • I only read the first two sentences and stopped There. Last I knew, a VAST majority of the player base has not touched the raid yet, let alone the hard mode raid.

          • You are not crazy my friend. Since I missed that discovery sense I got my team of normal raiders to request off on the 9th so we can go through it with no guides!

          • I had actually that "discovery" part of it destroyed(idk, i suck at english) b/c no one seemed to accept someone who hasn't done the raid and didn't know what to do... it's kinda sad :(

          • I feel ya on this one... Hell one of the few times I've been able to raid (maybe 4 times max) was with a bunch of randoms who never done it before there was a lot of error on their part, it wasn't frustrating though because I was just happy to be there... I would jump into the dlc raid when it first opens with randoms before any guides just for that feeling you describe..
