By now, the majority of us could do the Vault of Glass blindfolded. We may not have found everything it has to offer (or maybe we have, who knows), but we can open the gate, push the Templar off, get past the Gorgons, destroy Atheon, and get our Chatterwhites in the matter of an hour. We have the whole process down to a science, and that's part of the beauty of the Destiny community, sharing countless tips from other players' experiences to make ours a little easier.
However, if you're like me, you missed one important part of Destiny's very first Raid, and that's the sense of discovery. When I did the VOG for the first time, I joined up with a mixed Fireteam of friends and strangers, some of whom had already completed it and knew what to do. While this certainly made the process easier, it slimmed the experience down to less of a cooperative figure-it-out to more of a do-what-you're-told-and-nothing-more. So while I was happy to get my first (and so far, only) exotic weapon drop, I felt like I missed out on an opportunity to experience something amazing - a team working together to figure out how to survive seemingly impossible odds. No help, no instructions, just six people getting by through sheer force of will.
I'll never be able to have the true Vault of Glass experience, but my goal is to not make the same mistake with Crota's End. I don't want to be told what to do, but rather have equal input as everyone else and learn how to eliminate the threat of Crota one step at a time.
Does anyone else feel the same way? Or am I crazy, wanting to go through the frustration of hundreds of deaths where I could let someone else figure it out and reap the rewards of their efforts? I'm curious what your thoughts are.
Edit: Seems like there are a lot of you who feel the same way, which is awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your stories, and if any of you are on 360 and want to have a fireteam ready for Crota's End, feel free to hit me up. Gamertag is Bastinian.
Edit 2: Now on Xbox One! Feel free to message me on the One if interested in doing the next Raid blind.

Totally with you. I want to go in with no prior knowledge i feel like i cheated myself by looking up strategies on youtube. Time to pit my intelect, and my fireteam's, against the worst the Hive has to offer.

The vault seemed like such a mystery at first...I remember jumping in and not knowing wtf was marking me and why was I dying haha. But yeah it soon morphed into a kind of army drill being given orders and such. And don't get me wrong I still love doing it. But doing the new one fresh with no guide would be a hell of an experience I must say. Sure it'll be too hard at first and every1 will die repeatedly but wow what a ride.
