So I'm seeing more and more talk of all exotics needing a buff really badly, they shouldn't be close to legendary, etc, etc.
But the thing is, I thought Exotics were supposed to be the same as Legendary just with special perks that made them special and *maybe* gave you a tiny edge over a comparable Legendary.
I got this from the description that they were supposed to feel overpowered without actually unbalancing the game.
(FEEL overpowered, not BE overpowered was what stood out to me.)
I felt the ability to only wear one corroborated this theory, as it seemed to indicate that they were "equivalent" but that you might swap out a Legendary for an Exotic *for it's Perks*, not because it was so much more powerful.
The two major camps seem to be 1) Exotics are Legendary with special perks (and a little extra light on armor)
and 2) that Exotics are a whole tier above Legendary (supported by the *theory* that they will be further upgradable after the DLC, and not just getting a one time bump)
My opinion, I think they should be equivalent to Legendary except the perks, and that people are taking the promise of a buff to Thorn/Bad Juju to mean an upgrade to all Exotics, but that's my opinion/theory.
Would you offer some clarification on where Bungie intends for them to fit?
(Not asking for a set in stone edict that won't ever change, I realize Destiny will evolve but where do you see them "right now" in the current/soon incarnation?)

I would be interested to know more also, especially before I spend more shards on upgrading them. Because of the amount of time I have spent playing Destiny I have a lot of both Legendary and exotic, not to mention the ones I dismantled because I did not think they were worth upgrading. To me logic says exotic weapons or armor should be a whole step above legendary since you can only equip one of each. Otherwise we should have the option of equipping more then one exotic weapon or armor piece at a time. Clarification on this subject would be very helpful to me.
