How do these compare to the exotics that are available? For example, I am primarily a voidwalker (trying to level my sunsinger so i can get the self-rez super) but a friend told me to get Sunsinger gauntlets from Xur. It looks like they give a ton of light and could push my overall level up but they don't match with my primary ability. Any advice for a warlock looking at exotic armor?

I haven't gotten high enough on my warlock to give specific advise for that class (just hit 20 two days ago when I made this chart) but what I did for my Hunter was just get every legendary I wanted first, and the take the exotics as they came to replace a specific piece. Exotic drops are too rare, and xurs sales are too random for me to base my builds upon them. That way I could get all the way up to level 27 or so first, and just treat the exotics as bonuses when they came.
