So i accepted a random invite...
I was just playing my 28 hunter, doing my dailys, turning in bounties. I get a random invite saying, hey can you help us with the raid? I think why not. I join. All of them are under 10, 3 are 26, 3 are 27 and dont know how to do the raid. i think eh, i can deal with this, i might get some ascendant shards or raid armor. I play through it with them, everytime they die they complain about lag. Finally after a hour we get to Oracles. As i tell them where to go, they just go wherever they want. I think only me and 1 or 2 others where shooting the Oracles. Based Icebreaker. But anyway, Templar. 3 of them are always running to get relic first. After 5 attempts of failing and them not knowing what to do, i pick up relic. Host threatens to kick me... HE dosent. We kill Templar that atttempt. I dont even WANT to say the complaining during jumping puzzles. We get to door and wait for Others to get here. Host tries to shove me off edge. He looks at me finally and says " Wait, your a hunter? We were going to cheese him." Then before i can say anything i am kicked. I am never going to accept a random invite again.
EDIT: Wow, i come back from school and theres 40 replies! didnt think people would care, thanks!
EDIT: Some people arent realizing that not all the kids are talking, the same 2 or 3 were talking, others were not talking much
EDIT: I will still be accepting random invites, i was just salty

5 RepliesTo all, please continue to accept random invites. We had a group of 5 and needed a 6th to fill out the team, we didn't care about which class. We had a great time and moved through without any major slowdowns. Thanks Engage! Whenever you accept a random invite you have a chance to find good people to either just do the one run together or to find a new friend. There will be times when you will meet less than stellar members of the gene pool and those are times to just pull the plug and try a different group.

I'm not against accepting random invites but for the love of RNGesus please FILL OUT THE COMMENT IN THE INVITE WINDOW. I do not accept "Play Destiny!" invites unless I know you.

So be greatful. you got off lighlty instead of having to spend 5 hours running the raid with idiots. Any class can be a blessing in the raid if used right. unfortunately i don't have time to explain why i don't have time to explain, but i have half a dozen posts out there discussing it. I was on hard mode and switched to void damage at Aetheon instead of self revive because i wasnt dying unless it was a group wipe. and it made a big difference to excess supplicants and the praetorian/hobgobblins. Its how you play that class that counts. not just what it can do. self revive is over-rated, and people use it to much and become accustomed to dying or not playing tactfully because of it.

6 RepliesTotally opposite of this but one time I was doing patrol missions on Venus and keep in mind I'm only a level 26 warlock at the time with decent gear. So I got the area where vog is and their was 5 guys trying to do the vog all good levels I think the lowest was 28 well I helped them open the vault and went on my way back to doing my missions well a few seconds later got a party invite and they said hey you helped is open the vault we are waiting on to get the first chest and I was like huh? and I told them I have never even done vog before and they said well come get your first chest we will carry you and teach you the ways lol now I got a level 28 and level 29 both warlocks and always return the favors so random invites can be good

1 ReplyI was once invited to a, i would guess, Brazilian raid. All i could hear is my PSN name being yelled over and over as i was rezzing people left and right. I got kicked out after Templar, i got a message from one of the guy saying : Sorry we thought you could speak Spanish, the host kicked you because he thinks people from Canada are hairy "-blam!-s" That message alone made my day and moved on to lvl up my Titan

1 ReplyStep 1: Accept random invite. Step 2: Check to see if theres any kids. Step 3: If kids are present, leave fireteam. Step 4: Block the person who sent you the invite. Step 5: Done. I had a similar experience as you and all the kids sounded like they were 6. I just leave those lobbies now.

I remember accepting a random invite, when I joined I was in the raid with full level 30s (I was level 30 myself) and we ended up beating hard raid within a hour and I got the mythoclast

2 RepliesHavent had the displeasure of dealing with squeakers yet luckily. However have met some of the hardest headed people of my life doing the raid. Had one raid at atheon where guy kept complaining "Why cant this just be a normal boss fight". o___o

I've accepted 2 random invites and they went pretty well one was with a raid the other was helping 2 lv26 players on the nightfall. Was about to go to bed but thought I would help these guys potentially get some exotics. They got 7 strange coins and 9 ascendant shards between them. Destiny your real bastard sometimes lol

I used to get 10-20 invs from raid runners every day, after 2 mths of blocking every1 of them i dont see a single one now. The silence is deafening & i love it. :)

That is a story for the ages. But random invites aren't that bad. Me and my friends (lvl 28) got a few people from the tower to join us (we had the Templar checkpoint). We got all the cheats (but #2) up to the Gorgon. Our fire team leader had to go, but we friended one of the guys. Random invites can be crap though.
