The last time I had fun playing destiny? Reset day. I'd already done the nightfall and raid and was angry about the constant kicks to orbit. Then I noticed that this weeks heroic had the void burn modifier. I figured I'd try and run through it quickly before I went to bed. I landed on Venus and ran to the starting room for the strike. The moment I started shooting my maxed atheon's epilogue I was just amazed at how fast it ripped through everything. I don't even know how I killed one of the servitors. I spent the rest of the strike all the way through until the boss room just casually strolling through room after room, anything foolish enough to stand in my way exploding in a hail of purple streaked bullets. And that's when it hit me. I was having fun. All that time grinding through patrols and crucible playlists. All those tiger strikes and bounties. They were just a pale shadow of fun. Enjoyable maybe but not fun. The vault of glass was challenging yes, it made you concentrate and try your hardest. But a challenge is not always fun. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be playing destiny. But at least I had some fun.

When you break the monotony the game is pretty damn fun. I just don't know how to break the monotony anymore. I don't even feel like I look forward to getting my remaining raid armor drops on my two 29's. Hitting 30 is just... anticlimactic in itself. I've recently run hardmode with several 30's who had never run hardmode before and barely knew the normal raid mechanics. In other words, being a lvl 30 means next to nothing. Half the 30's out there are inexperienced, just very lucky.
