I am a "Xurner" and I'm damn proud about it. I'm sorry that you can't be that special snowflake. You might want to think of better ways to waste your time rather than pounding your fist on the floor and flailing.
I guess in a way, I "earned" my Hawkmoon by grinding Tigerstrikes and was randomly blessed by the RNGesus.
If Xur was to sell the Hawkmoon (despite the console exclusiveness) next week, would I whine?
Hell no. In what way does this entitle me to a piece of loot that has a % chance to drop like everything else?
EDIT: I should have said that both is an answer. My personal opinion is WHO CARES, in case no one got what I was siding with.

Yeah yur on my side boy btw I am the traveler
-
Both. Who care how you got the freaking weapon, you got it!
-
Xurner
-
I'm both
-
I will buy stuff from xur because i am trying to collect all of the exotics. But i do earn a lot of my exotics. Mainly my weapons because for some reason i can't seem to get armor legit. still i have gotten the thorn, the invective, gjallarhorn, and super good advice from either exotic bounties and from random encounters. I did however get the no backup plans legit (if you want to count the exotic engrams xur sells) I did get the gjallarhorn from random reward for crucible. (i about shit myself)
-
I'm a little bit of both. I bought 3 exotic weapons and 2 armor pieces from xur, and I earned 2 exotics from hard raid( including mythoclast :) ) 2 from exotic bounties, and I found one exotic armor from nightfall.

Ebolaaids makes one say things.
-
I'm a Xurner and love it!
-
I'm a Duxer!
-
I take 'em wherever I can get 'em.
-
Is there an eternal struggle within your soul thats bothering you my friend? Where is your god now?
-
Both, although I'm pretty sure half my exotics are from bounties. 7 thorns 4 invectives 3 super good advices 2 gjallahorns 2 vex mythoclasts 2 truths 2 pocket infinities 2 bad jujus 2 the last words 1 ice breaker 1 hard light 1 suros regime 1 patience and time 2 armamentariums 2 helms of saint-14 1 Ahclyophage symbiote 1 mask of the third man 1 helm of inmost light 1 no backup plans 1 lucky raspberry 1 heart of the praxic fire 1 sunbreakers 1 apotheosis veil

"Xurner." There is no such thing as "earning" in Destiny.
-
Im an earner through xur.
-
Please just stop. Please.
-
why not both? they are both put in the game so i'd be rather foolish to not take advantage of both options.
-
I'm both a boner
-
I'm a strange coiner...
-
I usually try to earn my weapons and armor but if it's something I've been wanting and can't get it I'll buy it from Xur. Plus I have like 50 coins and I might as well burn them on something.
-
TL;DR why not both
-
i've only bought 2 pieces of armor and a bunch of gun xp booster things from xur and im currently sitting on 10 exotics and i feel like there is 0 difference between xur and getting an item randomly. for xur I have to wait a week and hope that xur RANDOMLY has the gun/armor piece that I'm looking for. and most of the time it isn't what i need/looking for or is the same item as last week. I am sitting on like 40 something coins because xur never has what I want. I already got the patience and time from week 1 nightfall and I don't ever want a suros yet it has shown up on the store twice. thats pretty RNG if you ask me. and whats the difference between that and a nightfall or a raid? For nightfall I have to wait a week to do nightfall and i hope that I RANDOMLY get an exotic. most of the time its a legendary or the same exotic. the raid is more or less the same except its easier than the nightfall and you have a handfull of chances of getting something good. and the content to getting this gear isn't hard to begin with. It takes my group like an hour and a halfish to do the raid. it takes like a couple of minutes to open the door. probably 20ish minutes for the templar wave section. another 15 minutes or so to kill the templar. less than 5 minutes to get past the harpies and get the chests, like 1 minutes(if that) for the jumping puzzle, another oh idk 15ish for the guardian part and another solid 15ish for Aethon. nightfall consists of abusing damage modifiers, cheesing, and going REALLY slowly so you don't get randomly 1 shotted. and it takes me like 20 minutes to an 1 hr and i do it solo. weekly strike is actually a bit more tedius than nightfall in which i crank it up to max difficulty(for the max coins) , do it solo, with no damage modifier. and tiger strikes are a waste of time to farm exotics, unless you have like no life. so i don't get it. it takes almost the same amount of effort to do this content, and its as random on all sources. actually im wrong xur isn't even as close to reliable as raids/nightfall based on my experience. and whats even more hilarious is that out of all my exotics all I have ever wanted was the last word and I just randomly got it yesterday by playing a couple rounds of control. guess i "earned" it since i didn't get it from xur huh? tldr: xur, raid, nightfall, crucible, strikes, its all random so there is no difference between "xurners" and "earners"
-
I'm a xearner. Got 2 exotics from bounties, two from xur
-
I mean I bought patience and time and then that same night I got it in the raid so am I a xurner or earner?
-
Lol earner in a game of LUCK. There is no earning, ONLY LUCK. Like those in last place in crucible "EARNING" exotics.
-
I'm both but mostly a exotic bountier
-
it's harder to go through weekly heroics and get strange coins than to place last in crucible so please tell me why buying an exotic is the worse way to get an exotic.
