Xbox gamers get exclusive content for years and that's fine. One game goes the other way with it and they all flip out. I remember being on other forums and seeing the poor ps3 players getting made fun of and being told that they're cry babies for these same issues. Get over it. Sony paid. Be mad at Microsoft for being cheap.

  • I remember when Xbox got exclusive content for fallout 3. I'm a 360 player and it pissed me off because it was such great content that I wish I could have played it and enjoyed it the same time as my PS3 friends.

  • i agree 100% with you. I always played COD and they ALWAYS got content earlier or more so this time it s the ps4's turn!

  • You really think Microsoft was cheap? That they wouldn't have outbid Sony? I think it's much more likely that Bungie simply didn't want to make the deal with Microsoft at all. I can't really blame them since if it was up to Microsoft, Bungie would be cranking out Halo games every year.

  • Cheap is not the right word, I don't think. But it comes down to having to answer to your stakeholders. Microsoft's gaming division (and Sony's in the recent past) have both had issues related to profitability. Having enough money to do something, and it being the right decision for the direction that they wanted to take are not always going to be the same. And, it is not about how much money Microsoft, as a corporate entity has. It is about how much money Microsoft's gaming division has. Just like Sony's gaming division, it is a subsidiary of the parent company. They do not simply have a checkbook for the "master" account and can spend without restraint. If the respective division could not fund its own venture, it would need to jump through a large number of inter-division hoops, and ultimately come down to a decision of the respective board of directors, as to if that money was considered well spent. Even if Microsoft's gaming division thought that it was a sound idea, if they could not fund it themselves, it would mean that they would need to solicit for that money, which is not a guarantee. Remember, at one time - and /after/ Microsoft bought out the IP for Halo in exchange for a stake buydown, Bungie was on the verge of finalizing a contract to make this game entirely Xbox exclusive for a whole year - not just some aspects of the game and DLC. It is bad enough that the parts of the game are exclusive for as long as they are.

They clearly stated that there would be too much exclusive content to list, and that it would continue to flow for the Playstation version of the game. Why is this a surprise? Honestly I have always owned both systems so I could take advantage of the exclusive content and early releases on each platform. Xbox has had all the love from most AAA titles simply because of the amount of money they can throw at things in comparison to Sony. Which is actually funny because Xbox has always been hemorrhaging Microsoft's money. Microsoft has a new CEO and he doesn't agree with supporting Bing, Surface and Xbox and would like to spin-off these money losing projects into their own companies. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2014/02/05/investors-want-microsofts-new-ceo-to-kill-xbox-bing-and-surface/ You won't see Microsoft throwing heaps of cash at developers to earn exclusive content any longer, just a fact. Microsoft is also closing Xbox Entertainment Studios, as of today matter of fact, and laying off 18,000 employees. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/microsoft-shuts-down-xbox-entertainment-update/1100-6421179/ Honestly, they are behind in console sales, been bleeding money for years, and their new CEO won't stand for it. Expect to see Xbox sold so that it can become independent, if that doesn't happen, and I'm not being dramatic, Xbox will die.

  • Didn't they say that they would still continue the live action halo series despite the studios disbanding or was I ill informed? Just curious I was looking forward to that

  • I'm no fan of Microsoft. I was fully ready to purchase the Destiny edition PS4, but then they announced the Master Chief Collection, and I didn't have a choice. I knew what I was missing out on at launch, and I guess I should have assumed it would carry over to DLC. But even if I had I would have expected it to be on par with previous Xbox exclusive DLCs (never played the newer CODs, but theirs was a week or a month of exclusivity I think, then PS users get the whole thing). I had both 360 and PS3, so I still plan on getting a PS4 so I can play No Man's Sky, among other games. These exclusives are getting out of hand though, and in the end don't benefit anyone accept the company's bottom line. As far as the xbox dying or being sold, I'll believe it when it happens. The sales figures for today were predictable (in my opinion) way back when Microsoft first unveiled their new machine, and dropped the ball horribly. Seriously, I loved my 360 more than PS3 but was still going to buy a PS4 over and XB1 because Sony clearly had gamers in mind, while Microsoft was trying to make an entertainment system for everybody and their mother. Selling off the XBox branch of Microsoft does seem possible, but I find it hard to believe that Microsoft would give up its stake in the gaming industry. Too much money to be made.

I agree it is much more likely to see Xbox sell or spin-off independently, however, Microsoft will have no problem leaving the gaming industry, the figures show losses in the billions, with no exaggeration. That does not look like money to be made in an investors eyes, and the investors run Microsoft, the CEO will do what they say, or there will be another new CEO who will. They are puppets, you can't trust any of these companies.

  • Whatever the case may be it is what it is. I'm simply saying these types of things have been happening for years and you never saw a xbox gamers shedding tears for ps users for the entirety of last gen. It happens once to xbox and you have these forums flooded with xbox players crying. If they weren't cheap then be mad at Microsoft for burning that bridge with bungie.

Yeah I can't argue with that. Exclusives will always be used as fodder for fanboys. Its too bad people can't take a step back a see where this is going. Exclusive COD dlc for a month for xbox Exclusive Destiny dlc for a year on playstation The next tomb raider is an xbox exclusive for god knows how long Eventually gamers will have no choice but to own both consoles to get the "ultimate experience". At that point nobody wins but Sony and Microsoft.

  • This pretty much. I'm not saying this is fair for Xbox users. I'm saying that this stuff has been going on forever and it was never fair but no one seemed to mind when it was going the other way 95% of the time
