Hey DeeJ, a SERIOUS idea for constant content: use community talent.

When Destiny was being advertised, I remembered hearing that it will constantly get new content. To say that finding out that this content was actually reskinned missions was a disappointment, would be an understatement. I was under the impression that actual story missions or strikes would be released for free on a regular schedule. What basis did I have for such an assumption? I don't know, you guys were kind of vague. Nevertheless, what I (and we) got did not live up to my expectations. However, I do have a pretty cool suggestion and I would love to hear you thoughts regarding it. I once stated it would be pretty cool to have a forge feature with Destiny, but what if we had an advanced mission creator? It would be sort of like a miniature development kit that you give to the community to create missions and challenges. The GUI would be intuitive and easy to use. Or you could provide a tutorial along with the miniature dev kit on how to use. it. There are millions of bungie fans, a lot of them probably have programming skills. You guys saw how creative people were with forge. Just imagine what they can do if they get their hands on a real level builder. Admit it, the possibilities are endless and your studio has a deficit of creativity right now, so it needs something like this. People would submit these missions for review at Bungie and the best ones would be released as bonus non-canon missions. I know this would require a huge amount of coding (in fact it would probably be released as a separate download), so maybe it's something you guys could work on later in the game's life or in Destiny 2. Give the power to the players.

            • This IS a good idea, Destiny- Be the first video game franchise to Crowd Source content! The TES series had a construction tool that allowed users to make the game themselves virtually the same as the actual procurers. I was amazed at the volume of super high quality user content. Some was even better than the studio's content. Release a construction engine, let the players make maps, missions, ect and then submit it to you guys for review. Pick the best stuff, re arrange it, ect and put it in the game. WE WANT CONTENT SO BADLY WE WILL LITERALLY DO THE WORK FOR YOU! JUST LET US! If you doubt the power of user based content generation, just look at the shit people have built on Minecraft (Think Westerose-craft) or look at the The Elder Scrolls user mods...

                • Long Face, You just created a few long faces, with that suggestion. Like, how would like to be the guy in charge of "allocating community talent" and tapping that fountain, every week. Community users surfing you out everyday for not using their beloved, idea? Why did, Long Face, skip my idea? I thought is was better than so&so's. I simply think what you're recommending is great, in theory, but terrible in practical application. There are less-non-intrusive ways to get the pulse of the community that do not involve, dividing the community.

                  • "...later in the game's life or in Destiny 2.." Ehrm - Longface, you really think Destiny is gonna make it that far ? That aside, I kind of like your idea, but a Destiny-mission-creator is never gonna happen. Ever. Thousands of gamer-created missions will be flooding bungieHQ - who is supposed to test those? They are not even able to test the selfmade content properly (Atheon-"bug"). Assumed they DO manage to test those fan-made-missions - haha - who is gonna decide which one to put online? Who is gonna handle the thousands of threads that will result from such decisions? No, it's not gonna happen. P.S.: waiting for "McDonalds" part three....

                    • There should just be a raid/strike creator, along with a raid/strike playlist. 1. Choose between a strike, or raid, and how many players your strike/raid supports. Up to six. (Because really, a fireteam is six people, why can't we have six in our strikes, or raids?) 2. Choose which planet you want your raid/strike to take place on. 3. Set a path for your group to go through, and obstacles along the path. (Like Forge from Halo) 4. Place AI Units in the game, set their difficulty, choose preset AI paths. 5. Place Boss, and repeat step four. 6. Save, create. 7. Invite your friends to successfully play through your raid/strike, once completed you can publish your strike/raid to Bungie.net 8. Bungie chooses three community made strikes, and one raid every month to be added to the playlist. If your strike/raid gets picked for the first time, you get an emblem, a legendary engram, and an armor shader, anything after that is glimmer.

I like the idea and you could put some limitations to it so that we don't just end up with spawn-traps being sent constantly. I see a lot points people have made that could easily be addressed. I wanted to point out a few. Load on bungie People are saying they would just have too many levels to test and at some point you would be correct but we have worked this guy out a long time ago. If your going to give the community the tools to create levels give them the tools to test and rate those experiences. Add a tagging system to show what planet it's on, enemy factions it uses and explain it's size or combat style. Then just look at the highest rated levels that fit the taggs you need. Once seen and reviewed archive it elsewhere as reviewed so that newer levels can make it to the top and not get drowned out by those "classic" levels. Spawn traps The above section also would address this. But you could add limiters like # of enemy's available per X meters and force spawners to be inside of "spawn structures" like caves and dropships. As well as limiting spawn speeds from individual spawners. Participation To get people to actually play those custom levels you could add a chance for a weekly reward for trying and rating X number of levels. Levels must be longer than 10 minutes or so and you must not get an afk notification to get credit. That way you don't end up with really quick "farming credit" levels. Also give the level a minimum asset count so the level can't be empty. This gives the community incentive to play and rate the levels similar to how they do weekly missions. This could REALLY help the lifespan of this game for the long run and give players something to do or explore after they have done their weekly stuff. Sadly I don't see it added because I don't expect we will EVER see free missions added to the game besides temporary event based ones. If they can't sell it to us then you won't see much added. You would need to add an entry fee to the level editor like 20 bucks or something. Though the money based entry fee would go a long way to keep level trolling at bay.

                    • So long as you don't get rewarded for the ones you try out only the ones bungee has played and given the green light. That way reaches firefight with invincibility mods weren't ruining it.

                    • hmmm hmmmmmmmmm HMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!! a good seriouse idea coming from longface of all people? hard to believe regardless i like the point of view. we know for a fact that activision will HAPPILY allow any change that gets out more money (therefore more paid dlc) so if bungie charged like . . . 5 dollars a DLC pack im sure activision would be more then happy to push it forward that being said i would expect the dlc packs to contain alot of mission. like i would say 10+. and instead of doing little points on the map you instead make a drop down menu somewhere in the director to give you a brief explanation of it. difficulty. background. all the jazz and then you go there. just my 2 cents
