This generation of gamers confuses me ...

whenever someone brings up the "needs more content" topic , people keep replying with : it's just 2 months old , wait a bit ... wtf ? I remember the days when you bought a game full price it was a full game , and when an expansion was released it actually added tremendously to the amount of content of the original game. yes , we play Destiny , yes we love it , but lets face it ... it is -blam!-ing lacking in all major departments, it's just the looting that's keeping it alive this far , and even that is because of the weird RNG system in place.

  • I get what your saying and I fully support your opinion. I however am one of the people that although I do agree the game is 100% lacking in content, I do not crucify bungie for it. They had a obligation under activision to push it without penalty. I also have hope for destinys future and I am willing to wait. While I may of not paid for a complete game, I did pay for a great game. So many game I have spent $60 on and haven't given me close to as many hours of game play. I just hope bungie somehow pulls it together because the potential is there for a epic game.

I blame the entitled internet troll generation. DLC is still a relatively new concept and personally? It doesn't bother me in the least.

    • It may be that gaming has become a victim of its own success. GTA5 made $800 million in the first 24 hours it was on sale worldwide. That's more than even the biggest hollywood film. Potentially that's a huge market for a hack corporation to rip into and exploit. In the past the industry had to produce substantial stuff gamers actually craved because there were no gimps they could sell generic boring crap to.

      • What's with the older generation of gamers not able to appreciate really how much content there is. I could take every game from the n64 and the poly count would be lower. Go make a better game then asshat.

        • 'Twas the night before Xur-mas, when all thro' the tower, The broom sweeping robot was cleaning, with furious broom sweeping power; The guardians were waiting, excitement in the air, In hopes that Xur would bring them sweet loots to wear; The Hunters were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of Ahamkara's spine danc'd in their heads, And Warlocks in their trenchcoat, and Titans in their marks, Were dreaming about running through purple ball filled parks, When off in the shadow there arose such a noise, We all sprang from our beds to look at Xur's toys. Away to the merchant I flew like a flash, Ready to buy exotic loots, with all my strange coins as cash. The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow, We had to buy the best gear, to prepare for The Dark Below; When, what to my wondering eyes, praise the makers!, But an exotic chest engram, and those gauntlets, Sunbreakers! With a big crowd growing, some praising RNGesus, I knew in a moment the earners would be on the forums trying to tease us. More rapid than eagles the tears they soon came, Some cursing and shouting, some wondering why they still played this game. "Now! Arcite 99-40, now! Cayde-6, now! Zavala, and Ikora Rey, "On! Lord Shaxx, on! Eva Levante, on! Speaker and Amanda Holliday; "I'll bomb this stupid tower! Burn down every wall! "I never get what I want! I'll murder you all!" As dry leaves before the wild hurricane fly, Are those birds overhead or dragons in the sky; So up to the treetops the cursewords they flew, With the earners and haters - and whiners too: And then in a twinkling, I heard on the postmaster's roof They all disappeared in a big giant poof. As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Down the chimney Deej came with a bound: He was dress'd all in fur, from his head to his toes, And his clothes were all dirty with tears, OH NOES; A bundle of complaints and suggestions was flung on his back, And he look'd like a peddler just opening his pack: His eyes - how they twinkled! his dimples how merry, His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry; His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow; The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath. He had a broad face, and a little round belly That shook when he laugh'd, like a bowl full of jelly: He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, And I laugh'd when I saw him in spite of myself; A wink of his eye and a twist of his head Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And fill'd all the stockings; then turn'd with a jerk, And laying his finger aside of his nose And giving a nod, up the tower's tree he rose. He sprung to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew, like the down of a thistle: But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of view- Happy Xur-mas to all, and from Bungie, "f-ck you!"

            • The problem is you are saying a full game and the issue is people do not believe this to be a full game... You sound like this generation of gamer, as the gamers I play with mostly were around in the Atari2600 era and we all agree the content is an issue, only a fanboy (which is a more recent development in gaming) would disagree....

            • I'm sorry but this needs a proper burial. First of all this games story was bland, bleak, empty, boring, easy as fuk, and had no sense of direction. They depleted their entire budget on advertising and pathetic character voices that were removed when they scrapped the original GOOD story line. Anyone who disagrees with the story sucking ass, think about what system your playing and what potential there is considering your basically on a lower scale PC now (Next Gen Console). Look at Warframe please for an example of how much maps and content is easily possible, which BTW is a free game. Once we get games that are true story line driven for this "Next Gen" like Witcher 3 and Elder Scrolls, defending this story line should be murdered at the thought of the 500 million dollar budget here. Point is, you cannot sit here and defend this game while they are already selling content that's ODC labeled as DLC. I don't care to hear you 40 year old virgins say you kids are ungrateful. Your a blind sheep casual that would buy a bag of dog shit labeled as brown gold. True gamers know what is expected in a 500 million dollar game lol and whats been put on the table is a disgusting disgrace.

                • I'm an "old bastard" and I'm struggling to remember another game that so many people have put so many hours into. But still they complain that there's nothing to do. ????? I do agree that the story is pretty thin but I have STILL managed to put around 160 hours into Destiny and that's low compared to a lot of the complainers. I am getting a short of things to do now, and starting to get bored but it's been a VERY long time since I have put any where near that number of hours into one game. Not even Skyrim or fall out come that close. I've said it many times before. I judge the value of a game by the amount of entertainment (duration) it gives me. In that simple equation this is VERY worthy. Is the game perfect? Not even close. But I have had MORE THAN my expected value for money from it.

If you have spent more than 50 hours on Destiny, you cant say its lacking content. EDIT: Since people got offended, What i meant was this game is fun enough for you to put many hours on it. I have 203 hours put on it and yes i am getting bored with it due to a lack of content but there are people out there who has almost 400 hours and are complaining. I don't remember ever putting 200 hours in a game let alone 400 hours. Not even Skyrim, with all its content, (Not even done with that game. There is too much to do that it was driving me insane lol ) has come that close. Yes Destiny is lacking content but you had fun investing all those hours didn't you? Sorry if the context of my words misunderstood you.

                      • Do you also remember that games used to be crappy as hell? That they used to take 8 hours at the most to play through because the cartridges or CDs weren't big enough to contain more game? That the PvP was 4 player split screen? What are we comparing Destiny to exactly? What end-all be-all game?!?

                          • I always think back to Resident Evil 4. That game just kept going. Every time I thought it was about to be over, I moved into a new section. The story left me very satisfied. Once I beat the game, I unlocked a side mission and the mercenary modes. That kept me playing even longer. All this for one game. Now both of those post game modes would be DLC. Heck, RE5 added mercenary mode as DLC, making me pay for a part of the game that was included last time. Destiny is great and it's mechanics are good, but all of my post 20 playtime has been doing the same stuff over and over, with the exception of the raid. If it had another planet or two with more missions all around at launch, I think it would have been less criticized.

                          • The reason people say this is because it is more akin to a computer MMO. When they are first release, many of them do not have much content. However Destiny has very little content at all. I see this as a stepping board for Bungie. They developed their own graphics engine and are foraying into new territory with a game like Destiny. This game has the potential to be the game will be looked at in the future as the game that changed the FPS genre, but only if the following games turn out to be bigger successes. "It's not about who did it first/it's 'bout who did it right" Destiny did it first, let's see if Destiny 2 does it right.

I don't think people realize they'd been sold a half-baked game. Just take a moment, people, to look at the poor dialogue. Look at the scenarios you're put into and appraise the level of story-telling based on that. Now contextualize the bad story/dialogue with the departure of the lead writer. Do you understand, people? This game is subpar. In part because Bungie's most talented writer has abruptly left for reasons unknown. Some say it wasn't on good terms—that Activision was playing too large a role. The game was not what had been originally envisioned (Nor is it representative of next-gen quality immersion). This is pure conjecture, of course. But why would a seasoned lead take leave just when his cash cow is about to go to market? Dynamic assets have changed as well. Just look at the E3 video back in 2013. The shanks, vandals, and dreg have drastic behavioral changes. Of course, there were changes to the prototypical UI elements. They look way better now. But going back to the AI. Why did their behavior change so much? It's almost as if they'd been dumbed down.... As we all know Bungie is better than this. It's not as if they're incapable. We saw it at E3! Now, a lot of people who hate on critics of the game say things like, I'm having fun. You got your $60 worth. Go play CoD. Just go away. To them I say, good. Activision has done their job then. Shipping out an incomplete game where their target player base is having fun, is getting more than their $60 worth, is not going away. Good for you. Your needs have been fulfilled. But for everyone else who feels that Bungie pulled a bait-'n-switch—we've not been addressed. And Bungie won't appease us. And forumgoers will insult us. To all of you I say, fuck you.
