At release most game are longer than this game. Comparing it for FF? Its maybe 1/8 the game? Less map, by 20X, less story, less depth, length and characters.

Yes, FFXIV has a subscription fee. The current subscription plans are: $12.99 per month for 6 months for up to 8 characters per server and a maximum of 40 characters. $13.99 per month for 3 months for up to 8 characters per server and a maximum of 40 characters.
