Part of it, in my opinion, is the fact that you have high order predators in the places that you are actively looking at - at least on Earth. With the number of Guardians and enemies in any given area, there is not a place for natural life to take/retain a foothold, any more. Constant loud noise, persistent presence, etc. In the real world, you do get scenarios where larger wildlife will venture into a city - but that is generally due to scarcity of prey. If humanity has been pushed back, as far as it sounds that it has, then there is no reason for them to venture anywhere near the currently "populated" areas.

 • Exactly but that only really relates to larger predators and prey, you are certainly right but that still doesn't explain zero fish, to my knowledge. The dragons on Venus were supposedly pushed to extinction by the warlocks yet you can see them in the skies, they've got something big their munching on for sure, unless the ecology and biology that evolved on venus requires feeding off of the sulfuric acid pools, and that blue lava!

 • Yeah, not sure about fish, either. Definitely don't know any answers for Venus - but the water that we do see (at least what is inland) appears to mostly be in the form of volcanic springs. It does not look all that dissimilar from what we see here on Earth (the real one, that is). As for Earth, and perhaps one thing that is related to the predator/prey issue, too - Spinmetal. The canisters that they are growing out of, almost appears like it is leaking out of some sort of nuclear ordinance. Am wondering if Russia fell victim to some sort of nuclear catastrophe, at some point?
