Ya you're a dumb ass. It's stupid that the only way to get to 30 is raid...there should be multiple ways.

Yellow cake has the right idea, tough PvE content (Raid + Hard Raids) can't skewer a Competetive and Co-operative game to just half the content. Players should get to 30 in numerous ways, e.g., I thought Bungie didn't want everybody leaning on the path to the same gun (SUROS) so they're finding different routes. PvP and PvE don't always go hand in hand, especially the balancing in normal crucible, iron banner should be another, and so far the only mentioned [b]PvP[/b] method of getting to 30.
