How frequently are you doing the challenging stuff like Weekly Strikes on 28 or Nightfall, and how often are you playing with friends?
Companionship can have a massive impact on gameplay. I can spend half and hour trying to push my friends of the tower.

Me and my buddies usually get all the weekly heroic/nightfall/raid done on Tuesday and so by then there isn't really anything remotely fun to do on PVE and its back to PVP. I only play destiny with friends; without them I'd die from boredom :/
