Actually, it only makes sense that in an event that involves nothing but PvP, you should actually be able to reach the maximum levels by playing nothing but PvP. If there's any mistake made by Bungie here, it would be in not creating very specific sets of gear for PvP and PvE separately. Level 30 raid gear should make you very powerful against AI, but not so much against other players. The opposite should be said of level 30 PvP gear. Nearly every actual MMO does this. Of course, Destiny is not an MMO... but this is one of the elements I believe should have been taken from them.

  • Iron banner gear takes longer to get than pushing a raid boss off the ledge a few times!

  • Grind. Right. I got arms, legs, and chest from normal and bought an exotic helm. Not exactly hard. I'm 1 piece away from having 2 lvl 30s.

  • You can only wear 2 pieces of Iron Banner gear at a time, so even with an exotic and those 2, you will still not hit level 30. Not to mention the amount of shards you will need to get the gear maxed, and unless you raid you won't get the required shards easily. Also I think Bungie wants as many people as possible to get 30 before the DLC, no one will buy it if they aren't high enough level to do the content.

  • It's not that you can only wear two pieces(their legendary like raid gear) but that's all they'll be selling.

  • You're still gonna have to play, win, and bounty it up a helluva lot. Besides, many with raid gear didn't exactly earn it. I'm content with the choice and freedom to acquire different spare items or perhaps some gear for my other chars.

Ay least they're providing options dude. You got yours through the Raid, congrats. What if I play PvP and I don't want to be forced into a 2 hour long ordeal against something I could care less about. I'm essentially screwed. Until Iron Banner. Please use your brain, view the world from another persons perspective, and quit bloody whining. None of these changes affect YOU at all. Why? Because you got your shit through VoG like a good boy and should care less how some PvPer with a shotgun got their 30.

To those of you who thought my above post was whining, or that I meant it was ME I was referring to, I don't think you know what the word perspective means, nor do I think you have any sense of what an example is. In short, Bungie is giving EVERYONE ways to get to 30, no matter what the reason, without forcing anyone to do any one thing, no matter how great or undesirable. Some people like PvP and care nothing about Raids and killing flimsy AI opponents. Does that mean they aren't allowed to want to get to level 30? Level-advantages not being in PvP isn't the point. We can get to 30, so we want to get there. You're basically telling all PvPers that they shouldn't care that a level cap even exists, because aside from Iron Banner, levels and gear levels don't matter... Furthermore, what happens in PvP has no effect on PvE whatsoever. And what happens in PvE doesn't have much of an effect in PvP. So why the -blam!- should anyone care at all about how one person got to 30... If he got it in PvP, bravo, he worked his ass off and got the rep and the marks, and 'earned' it. If he got it through the Raid, bravo, he worked his ass off, found the groups and put in the effort, and 'earned' it. No one should care how, or where, or when someone got the gear to hit level 30... no one.

  • Actually it does, all the pvpers crying nerfed this nerfed that, got some of the best weapons broken in pve, so yeah, people who play for the raid and missions get affected by what the pvpers want. Little 12 year Olds with shotguns and fusion rifles and rocket launchers get to determine the outcome of our gameplay, it's pathetic

  • Nope. Tell us, what do the pvp people need to be max level for? Iron banner? An event created with the idea that it would entice pve people to come "show off" the items/gear they put in the time for through strikes/raid/nightfall/heroics?

Their reasons are their own. Frankly, if I only played PvP, or that was my main focus, I'd probably be interested in hitting level 30 simply to do it, because that's the level cap and I might make a personal goal out of reaching it. The real question is: why the hell do you care what a 'pvpers' reason is for reaching a level that doesn't matter? His reasoning doesn't affect you at all, nor does his reaching level 30, no matter what the point of it is. Does any of this mean that a PvPer shouldn't be offered the opportunity to reach level cap if he/she so chooses? Only to you and people like you it seems. A PvPer reaching, or not reaching, level 30 means nothing to anyone except the individual putting for the effort to do it. So shove off and leave them to their business, it doesn't hurt, involve, or affect you in any way therefore it's none of your damned concern :)

  • Really pvp doesn't effect pve what so ever.... hmm I can think about a few updates because people cried and pve ended up getting the shafts because of it... bad example

  • That has to do with Bungie patching things (and making mistakes), and as such doesn't have any bearing on my example. But I'll elaborate just for you pumpkin. PvP, for all intents and purposes, is a separate world than PvE. The same applies to PvE. In this example I'll use the game Guild Wars 1. Granted it was a CORPGMMO mash-up type thing, it's valid in thise example. In Guild Wars there was a thing called the Hall of Heroes. The HoH was important to the world because it was the only means, before people cried and the devs changed it (sounds familiar), of opening access to the endgame dungeons. This created a power struggle between the players of GW1, as the dungeons only opened for the 'region' of the team that reigned supreme. If Europe earned the status of top dog, only the people 'registered' in Europe could enter the end-game dungeons. This created a cycle in which the PvP'ers had something to fight for, and the PvE'ers became reliant and 'supportive' of the people fighting for their rights to enter the dungeons. Destiny, doesn't have anything like this. What happens in PvP, in the sense of 6 people winning and 6 people losing, has nothing to do with anything outside of PvP. The same is applied to PvE. A team of 6 killing Atheon has nothing to do with anything outside of PvE. Therefore, with all of that being explained (and likely misunderstood later, as usual), the point in question still stands. Why should anyone in PvP give a -blam!- that some guy that just killed him got their gear by killing Atheon. And conversely, why should anyone in PvE give a -blam!- that the guy that just revived him got their gear from PvP. The answer that apparently no one sees? They shouldn't. It's not a big enough problem for anyone to care, at all. So those that DO care that billy-bob got to level 30 by fighting in the Crucible, or that sally-jay got her level 30 gear from killing some mechanized dirt-bag, are simply being stupid. Case closed.
