First and foremost I want to congratulate you for being so strong and staying sober. I have never done anything myself but someone very close to me at one time has taken drugs because he felt it was his escape from reality. He tried to make me feel sorry for him for having this addiction and was angry when I didn't budge on the subject. I don't believe in that type of weakness and I never will. I believe that if you can get yourself into a shit hole you can also dig yourself out. I don't pretend to know what anyone goes through when they do drugs and then try to get sober but I can imagine it's extremely difficult. You sound very proud of yourself and you absolutely should be! The journey might have been rough but life is much better when you're sober, you are absolutely right about that. How can anyone enjoy the pleasures in this world if they are numbing themselves to not feel anything at all? Thank you for sharing your story and thank you for bringing a little piece of positivity to these forums. Secondly, I want to say how relieved I am to read something in proper English and spelled correctly. It's a nice change from all the uneducated crap I read on a daily basis.

  • thanks much. I am also not into the idea of being a victim. There are so many people who suffer through all sorts of things i would find unbearable and the ones i respect are the ones who don't allow that to keep them from living their lives. This is the mind set i aspire to and admire the most. To deal with life on it's terms and still come out the other side smiling no matter what is placed in your path. =)™

  • Well I've always said that it's the tough times that show and make you who you are. I don't know if you've ever seen the movie The Core but one of the guys says "it's just you're used to winning...and you're not really a leader until you've lost." This quote always sticks in my mind because it's true. You have to know hardship before you can overcome it.
