I'm that guy
I was playing destiny this morning after playing the raid to help some guys who have never done the raid, I decided to farm for spirit bloom to level up my raid gear. I cruising along when all of a sudden I see a group trying to get in the door of the raid. Apparently their setup was unbalanced because they had three guardians on the left and a warlock by himself on the right in need of help. So I was already dirt tired and thought about a titan that just wanted to help when my team was doing the raid. So I jumped up and decided to help the Warlock. After they got the door open the warlock waved at me as a sign of thanks. So I waved back and jumped off the cliff like a boss. I felt pretty good after helping them. So I decided to get my Hunter as prepared as much as possible to help other people out in the near future. I think that if anyone is in the area of the raid see other people trying to get in, they should help because sometimes a 7th man could mean a lot to a different team. Just wanted to share my experience. Thanks for reading

2 RepliesThings like this I feel is what Bungie wanted to see from its community. People always say there's nothing to do, not enough DLC ect. It's great to see someone using their exp to help people out instead of complaining. Thanks for sharing this man. As simple of a task as it was, I'm sure they appreciated it. Hopefully we can get more like minded people that can just enjoy playing Destiny.

Everytime I roll through there it's a barren wasteland. I did have a similar experience though. My group was opening the door, and we had done it a few times so it's not a big deal opening the door. My wife and I take care of the right side and I turned around to see if a praetorian was spawning and see a lonely guy sitting on a rock attacking one for me. He was a higher teen level I think, almost 20 and was just helping out. I don't know who he was or if he even had a raid ready character that he's done the raid with. It just seemed like he was a player wanting to be part of the raid but not high enough level. Shortly after that we got the door open and he rushed over to the door and waved and bowed and we all did the same and had a little dance party. Then he got on his sparrow and rode away. I hope he's had his chance to run through it since this was a few weeks ago.

Here I am trying to level up my 3rd character, when suddenly this random level 29 guy comes in with raid gear and fully upgraded exotics and just kills everything. I wanted my Guardian to give him the finger but all my guardian did was wave, the other guy waved back and probably thought that I was thanking him, when In reality I was screaming at the top of my lungs "You f&#*ng ^$&^%^ I was trying to kill those Dreg on my own" If I need help I will ask for help. I think people are forgetting that Destiny is not only a game, but it also a community and there are people that will lend a hand and help others when needed. I hope that when I'm up to the challenge of the VoG, that I have the good fortunes to have other people like yourself to play along side. Keep to the Light and continue to fight the Darkness Guardian.

2 RepliesYeah a random pitched in to help my lot on our 2nd run. Tbh we had things well in hand, but the help was appreciated. After the vault opened, we all had a dance party outside, and he ran in with us, presumably to nab the first chest for some mats.

1 ReplyI don't know if I would help directly. I've never done the raid but I've watched a video and the door of the raid seems to be the area where you see if your ready or not.

Yeah I was that guy too a couple days ago. I was on Venus running a bounty or whatever and just happened to ride by the Door. I was *this* close to continuing on my way, but I turned, stopped, thought about it for a second, and hopped off my sparrow to help out. Nothing like flying in and delivering an unexpected Death from Above to finish off a praetorian that was about to take over a plate. I was at the end of my run for the day, tired as hell, and just had this one last bounty to run, but I was glad I took the time to stop and help. It made a difference for those guys. The titan salute never felt so appropriate as they all waved back.

Similar thing happened to my first raid group on day 1 the vault came out. Me and my team took forever to open the vault ( mind we had 3 lvl 25s at the time) and we kept getting smashed so randomly some other guardians appeared and helped us. It was one of the best things ever to see that big door slide open. My group had a dance party with the guardians that helped us and we went inside.

Saw this happen to a group as well. The 2 on the left were having trouble, and one guy from the middle kept coming down to help, but the spire was getting nowhere, so I stepped in to give a hand. They all waved at me before entering the vault. One of the best moments of the game for me so far.

Tried to help a group out while helping a friend level up a new character. They finished right before I got there though. I hope I see someone doing it again because there will be seven people on their team for a short time.
