No I think the reason he left is just like the guy said in the video, they told they weren't going to have time to create the game they wanted and were going to do a rewrite and he left. I would have after 5 years.
On the plus side this means there's still hope for destiny in the future, a complete rewrite of the story takes time, and since they decided to butcher the game and basically sell half of what was meant for launch as DLC to buy time, we could actually see good amounts of story, and story that makes some damn sense in future DLCs, provided anybody has the patience to stick with it that long.

I have seen better stories in children's picture books so it will be hard not to evolve the story. I certainly hope it does, my fingers are crossed, I am hoping and praying, throwing coins into the wishing well, wishing upon the first star I see at night that this game gets the treatment it deserves. They had $500 million for Petes sake. If they can't do something to improve upon this mess then there is no hope for any games in the future.
-
Right!? They can't possibly make it any worse (story wise at least) so it's gotta get better, hopefully.
-
This first DLC better be epic, im talking Tiny Tina epic because Bungie knows exactly what the problem is. Their job is to get it fixed (story I mean, love the rest of the game)

Edited by Hippo_Legacy: 10/24/2014 4:26:56 PMUnfortunately I don't think it will be, I think we'll have to wait until the second probably the third DLC to get the in depth story telling that we expect from Bungie. Now that doesn't mean that the first DLC won't be better (story wise) than the launch game, I mean holy -blam!-, it's pretty hard not to be, but I just don't think we'll really see the epicness (yea I'm making up words) of it until later.

How does making a decision to push out a partially completed product before it is ready give you hope? It shows me they only care about the money, nothing else. I have no hope in that kind of bs.
-
Because it means they'll have time to write an actual story for the future DLCs. It doesn't mean that they WILL, and it's still a big fat steamy pile of horseshit that they cut half the game to sell as DLC, but I got it with my pre order so I'm not gonna cry about it. But it also means that there's hope for the franchise starting with the second "expansion" or the 3rd and 4th DLCs. IMO

If they didnt write a story with the $500 million they had, what makes you think they'll do now?
-
Well first off because that $500 million is for the entire franchise, not the first game. Secondly they DID write the story for the first game, and a damn good one at that if you believe half the rumors, they just scrapped it at the last minute. Writing an entire universe worth of story and lore isn't going to happen in a year, now they've got extra time to actually do the rewrite, not just take bits and pieces of the original story and Frankenstein them together.

I don't even know how to respond with all the contradictions and fanboyisms in your reply. Good luck and game on.
-
Lol so I'm a fan boy because I'm not giving up on the future of the franchise? It's sad when people can't handle being disagreed with.
-
No, I can handle disagreements of opinion. But what I refuse to do is communicate with someone who contradict themselves in basically every sentence they state.

Yeah, if you've been with the company since 1998, I'm sure you'd get over it really fast once the higher ups are telling you, the main creator, that you've got to gut your story. Time for a change! The controls, gunplay, environments, and all other art assets are awesome. But if you don't have a good story to mesh them all together, it's for nothing. At least for the mature gamers that want a good story with their game. Meh...
