It is never fact when it comes to entertainment being a good or bad experience. There is only biased perspectives on the person's experience with said material. Saying it was a success is literally a general consensus that they enjoyed said experience.(which both sides, good and bad, have tendencies to get mob mentalities). That aside, I am perplexed how ridiculous the criticism of the game has gotten over hear say of ONE individual, on the internet no less (not always the best source of factual information). Sure there are the supposed game content on the disc with the placeholder names (which IS quite incriminating), but seeing as how you cannot play it, let alone learn anything meaningful from it...how does that exactly translate into "cut content"? Sure the evidence is there.... but there really isn't anything else other than speculation at this point. ...for both sides of the argument. Now excuse me while I go enjoy the game.

That "logic" is flawed. Essentially saying that a product such as Destiny cannot be objectified to the form of a 'good or bad' connotation is literally contradictory to how good or bad operates. By your pseudo-logic, nothing can be critiqued as others may find enjoyment in it or out of it; I'm sure that many Germans found the -godwinslaw!- (I'm sure you can guess what is actually meant to be said here) party ideology to be "enjoyable", yet it's a fact that the generalized practices of the -godwinslaw!- party were, indeed, bad. The inherit enjoyment of Destiny obviously cannot be bad, as it conflicts with the very term. Yet fundamental game mechanics, storytelling, graphics, audio/ music, FX, overall game size, etc, can be categorized under 'good' or 'bad'. There can be no debate as to whether enjoyment can be classified as good or bad, yet there can be debate as to whether something in it[']s physical form can be deemed god or bad -- Destiny falls under that category. Let's be honest though, saying that Destiny essentially can't be judged is obviously an insidious way to further your agenda, leading to you defending Destiny, because you, in fact, have taken the opposing side to those who have deemed Destiny to be a bad game, which is evident from your second paragraph. Your point that "but there really isn't anything else other than speculation at this point" can easily be countered by the fact that multiple pieces of cut-content can be found within the game via glitches and a UI bug, and that multiple sources have claimed to test for the game and are saying that Destiny is a very different game now than what it was then. Put aside the fact that Deej has stated that the content is supposedly not ready (even though it obviously is), the fact still remains that Bungie used development time to create DLC content when said time could have been spent creating more content for a game in which its populations' largest complaint is that it is lacking content. Now excuse me while I enjoy a different game... or maybe I'll make a reference to a Rock God.

  • You know nothing John Snow.... I didn't say it COULDN'T be judged....just that either side cannot be right at this point. Just like in court, innocent until proven guilty without a doubt. There are FAR TOO many assumptions being made without actually KNOWING. And of course play testers play a completely different game....it's for TESTING purposes. That is if these "play testers" are in fact the real deal. Realistically speaking though....people are up in arms about how fast they were able to burn through the content while expecting there to be more, which leaves a bitter taste in one's mouth(myself included). So they respond in a very human way...look for something or anything to blame. Which makes us read into things too easily(we are a passionate bunch). But saying it's bad is jumping the gun... that's the point I was trying to make really. No need to be condescending.

How is it too early to judge the game? The simple fact of the matter is that Destiny literally has no strong points other than the solid gameplay mechanics, lighting and (obviously) music. The amazing story that Joseph Statan talked about at GDC is nowhere to be found; the game, as you said, is very short--after completing the three hour story, you then have the option to do the five Strikes, which are fun at first but get very repetitive after the second or third time, or you can replay the same missions you just did. The only part of this game that lives up to what Bungie marketed Destiny as is the Raid, and even then the Raid is let down by the rest of the game, acting like more of a crutch than anything else... and crutches, after a lot of pressure, break. I'm pretty sure that I don't have to mention PvP as fan feedback says it all. When compared to other acclaimed games, the fact remains that Destiny does not hold up. To deny this is tantamount to denying gravity. Condescension is in the eye of the beholder. If you perceive our vocabularies to be on different levels - so be it.
