Why would you not buy it? It's not like there is shame in buying it.
I found Gjallarhorn in an engram, but I would've bought it if I didn't.

I love farming/grinding and getting the drop I want, basically getting stuff through playing the game

I still don't really see the difference between farming for engrams and replaying mission for strange coins. It both still takes a lot of time playing to get them. Don't you get strange coins from "playing the game"?
